I am trying to get my singing to have more ranges, what are some good songs to do that with?

Scales, my dear. You don't sing songs to increase your range. You practice warm-ups. Remember thought that most people have a few notes past their break.

Great advice, Jordache. Do you know what a break is, Victa? Do you know if you are soprano or alto? You might consider a voice leson or two if you do not.

I don't really know any one song that could potentially do that. The Star-Spangled Banner always helps with expanding the vocal range. But the one thing I only know is to continually do a scale to expand your range. Do the solfege and always take it a half-step up on the piano to take it up a notch. If you do scales and continually expand it up, it should help.

Also, explore different sounds. Breathy, husky, operatic, etc. Mariah Carey can sing a whistle tone but is she could never belt it.

I know I'm now soprano, so I guess that makes me an alto. I wish I could afford lessons. But I'm poor!

I usually sing with rock music of some sort.

Huh? Are you soprano or alto or do you have both ranges? What part you sing isn't necessarily how high or low you can go, but where your voice resonates the most. This changes the more you work with your instrument. Even though I can hit a high C (think Christine in Phantom of the Opera) I still tend towards alto. Test your range on a piano. To get a better idea of what sounds best, open your throat. To do this you raise your soft palate. Imagine a yawn. That part at the back of your throat (top) raises. Or imagine that you swallowed a golf ball an open up. Instead of scooping up to a pitch, imagine landing on it gently. This will help with flatness. At some pt it will be hard to keep your palate up. Sometimes it helps to change the vowel you are singing. Often times an Ah (open vowel) is easier to sing out of your comfortable range than an Ee (nasal vowel) is.

I really have no clue what I am when is comes to alto or soprano...My mom told me I'm an alto. But I do not know how to play piano.

You'd be amazed what is on youtube. Here's a good one to start with, as it is a sequence of 48 lessons. I hope she corrects the tone; she is pulling her vocal cords.

One gives you skype tutoring for a price. I would be willing to do such a thing for free, I bet Jordache might even volunteer too.

I agree with what Kenisyes said above. Nowadays a lot of people are self-taught in all kinds of things. There are tons of helpful videos not only on Youtube but all over the internet as well. I myself, taught myself piano from Youtube videos and learned a ton about singing. Keep at it, don't give up and I'm sure you'll improve as well :)
