here is something from Lisa Gerrard,

the song is the Lord's prayer (Matthew 6:9-13), sung in Aramaic

THAT. WAS. HEAVENLY.

I'm a huge fan of music concrete, ambience, noise, and field recordings so hearing that just reminded me how great a song/album can be when mixed together.

Posting an 8-bit pop song because in a dancey mood

Your last two songs were so hard hitting, especially Dead Can Dance (funny enough, I heard of them for the first time today while browsing another music board)

Why have I not known about them earlier, they're like Velvet underground almost. Favorite new band. Also, I understand what you mean, as Christians, it's our spirit given nature that desires us to pursue the things of God, and sometimes spiritual (yet not necessarily bible grounded) believers can make some great observations and art.

I still pray that Christian culture keeps blossoming in the present, we need more Christian harsh noise artists!

The length of this song may be intimidating but I can guarantee you this is an instrumental song worth experiencing. It's sorrowful, hopeful, and above all, Godspeed You! Black Emperor

For fans of avant-garde in an electronic fashion, I present to you Christopher Forgues (Kites)

Not for the majority, but if you enjoy experimenting with the tradition of music, give it a shot!

"Make a joyful noise to the*Lord, all the earth! Serve the*Lord*with gladness! Come into his presence with singing!"

Goodnight CC, I'll be back to bump eventually <3
Enjoy the music in the meantime :))))

sigh33n i think you'll really love Aaron Cavanaugh, if you haven't heard him before. (did i post him someplace already?)

most of his work is free, here --

this is really wild glitch/break/electronica - and it's all towards God's glory. not recommended for anyone who thinks they know what "music" is

"Ya Hey" by vampire weekend is clearly about God (YHWH)
Many take different stances at the message but I think the main underlining of the song is that only God can love with such intensity for a world that hates him.

Vampire weekend is a secular band unfortunately but I feel that their content is far from from offensive.
Also their newest album "Modern Vampires of the City" deal with themes of religion throughout.
I love this album too, but sometimes i feel a bit guilty listenting to it because I thought they were mocking God and Christianity since they are clearly a secular band. I saw them play before their new album came out and they played Diane Young. They were a lot of fun to see in concert. (I don't limit myself to going to see Christian only bands..many of them don't come to my area anyway)

How about a little ska, FIF style? They recently got back together. yay! I saw them at this little summer festival last summer and they got people on stage to dance with them. Really cool bunch. They were really nice at their merch table too. I love music that gets me dancing!

Some of the images are blurry, but I like this video of this song. It still makes me cry sometimes. Really sweet, but powerful lyrics. I love Nickel Creek. They also just got back together and put out a new album. Not "technically" Christian genre, but some of their music feels Christ inspired somehow. :)

Jay Tholen has a large body of experimental-electronic "chiptune" music with a strong gospel message. most of it is for free download; just search the web for his name. more melodic & less frenetic than Aaron Cavanaugh, but similar.
