Hi I need a little help and I am hoping that you all might have some insight for me. I've never really dived into the Christian music stream and I have a few questions. I am looking for an artist or artists that will give me a good start in Christian music. I am trying to find something calm and soothing.

It depends. Are you thinking of generic "worship" music? It doesn't hold enough to hold my interest but I've heard enough to know it's calm and soothing.

Try;
Hillsong United
Young Oceans
Jesus Culture

From there you should follow their musical connections easily.

Check whether the lyrics have connection with Holy Scripture..
Do not follow the fashions and styles they exhibit,
Do not go for Christian music shows(check whether they use too many symbols )
Even if you went,go for Worship..
