The Music that blessed my heart most is music with a beautiful tune.
And I like a lilting tune that goes both high & low in pitch range.
Perhaps by the influence of rap/hip hop, a lot of Christian music seems to
have good words, but a flat (IMHO) boring non-tune, recitatif.
It is like they are speaking the words more than singing them.
But for some reason, worship leaders are choosing these when they could
choose a beautiful tune (& don't).

I hear what you are saying about the repetition and vague mention of Jesus . When Christ is not mentioned or even the mention of God I tend to reject it because it could mean anything! I get a funny feeling with some of the music out these days. There are many "christian artists" who are not really christian! They are conjouring up another spirit with the repetitive lyrics. Look at amy grant for instance. Look at what she does behind the scenes and who she hangs out with! Alot of artsist have gone emergent. Michael w smith has gone by the wayside as well. The satanic symbolism on his cd jackets and videos creeps me out. The lyrics are alarming when we finally see the truth. Many artists ave sold out to the enemy. Satan has his deception injected everywhere!
However, I dont feel that the tempo has anything to do with it really. Some music is more lively and some is slower tempo.
Sometimes Im in the mood for mellow old time hymns and instrumental hymnal music and sometimes Im in the mood for upbeat southern gospel. Other times I like casting crowns,3rd day, or plumb or selah.
