Does anyone else notice that when a christian band gets big and famous then they start to write more secular music or music you don't know is about God?

hard to say - most of the Christian bands i like aren't big and famous ;)

but yes, i know what you mean, though i'm not sure which comes first, becoming popular with secular crowds, or writing music for secular audiences. Hillsong is pretty big and famous, but only in the 'christian worship' scene. they're not exactly about to get invited to burning man or ozfest. they would have to radically change first before they'd appeal to those crowds.

I have noticed this on occasion, but like the above poster - I stick to littler bands. Not so far to fall for them. :) Perhaps these Christian music artists should take a step back and consider whether they be in the faith. Here's some good words to get them thinking: CAMPONTHIS: The 107 Theses

Yes!! It's really sad too :/ I have no clue why they feel compelled to be apart of the world, when God clearly says that we are not of world. Honestly, I don't know many Christian bands who have gone down that road, but I know of many Christian artists who have certainly taken the compromise route.

Do you think the lyrics, the words of the song, are the most important part of a Christian band's activities?

I believe the lyrics play a big role...especially since you are a professing Christian. When listening to Christian music, we should feel motivated to rejoice and give glory to our creator. If you're singing about how flowers smell nice and stuff, that's not going to make anyone want to praise God. I always think about those who have never heard about Jesus, but are listening to Christian music. Music is an excellent way to witness and reach out to the lost. How is anyone, who is not saved, suppose to get the message Jesus died for our sins from flowers smell nice?

Do you like traditional hymns, Christian hard rock, contemporary Christian? etc.

I enjoy contemporary Christian, Christian pop and traditional hymns.
Yes, I love the old, traditional hymns; also, I do like Disciple, it's Biblical lyrics in hard rock style can be impressive.

Nothing can ever beat the traditional. Hymn lyrics are the most uplifting, I think. I have only listened to one Christian hard rock song. It's something that I find difficult to get into

Well, you might not like Disciple's 'Battle Lines' but its lyrics are really Biblical, and I think that this is the main thing. It's on Youtube. Whether or not the hard rock style is appreciated.

Looked it up and listened to the whole song. The lyrics were good, I will admit that. Somehow, I feel like I've listened to one of their songs before.... I kind of want to ask a question, but I don't want to make this a debate thread lol

Do you have an example?

Lyrics of Battle Lines are thoroughly Biblical, right? :)

Hard rock is not my thing, but that does not present an issue.
Well, this is fine. Did you figure if your mom or dad are into Christian hard rock? it's been around quite a long time, anyway.

Blessings.
