I've been listening to a lot of Elvis lately.(too many good songs to mention, my fav one is If i can dream from his 68' special though. lol)
My question is, was he a christian? I know his hairstylist Larry Geller had HOURS of talks with Elvis about spirtually stuff.
He made a book about the conversations etc. But was Elvis in general christian?

Same question with The beatles? Were any of the members christians? (I know John Lennon was arrogant, and perhaps a bit confused, and who can blame him with his upbringing etc. But anyone know something of these two questions? :)

Elvis has some wonderful gospel albums. I highly recommend them. I would hope he was a Christian, but I don't know a lot about his personal life.

As as for the Beatles, George Harrison was always into Eastern religions. Lennon didn't care for organized religion. Paul has stated he is "not religious, but spiritual", and Ringo has actually stated recently that he has become a Christian. So one out of four there.

I believe Elvis was raised in church, learning to sing in church. He did his albums of hymns. I think he considered himself a Christian, but he also died on a toilet from a drug overdose. Only God really knew where his heart was. But i believe he was sincere.

Nothing i've ever heard about the Beatles being Christian, and skipp seems to have more knowledge on them than i, but it sounds right. Though i'm always leery of celebrities proclaiming that they got saved until time passes to see how true it is.

Elvis I do believe was a Christian But when it comes to The Beatles, as much as I love them I think John Lennon was an Athiest. But I think if any of them were any type of religion, it was not Christian. regardless John Lennon is someone I really look up to as a human.

Elvis may have been raised as a Christian, but he certainly was not in the end. He died of drug overdoses of multiple drugs, prescription and other.

As for the Beatles, John Lennon was a Buddhist, after he met Yoko Ono. I liked their music in the 60's and it is still outstanding, but I don't like it since I became a Christian. The Beatles studied under various yogis in India, and it did influence their music. John Lennon also said they were bigger than Jesus Christ, and would be remembered long after he was gone. So another reason not to like their music.

But good for Ringo Starr! Or Richard Starkey, his real name!

Why I've turned to God at 70, by reformed Ringo Starr | Mail Online

I was raised in the 60's and I know all that music. I gave it all to God when I got saved in 1980, and I have never regretted it. Why not listen to Christian music? It is much better than listen to the music of drug addicts!

I have lived 25 years and the entire time I have listened to elvis... He was a man of the Lord at least at a point in his life... But ultimately it is not our place to say whether he was or wasn't cause at the time of his last breath only God knew his heart. And I hope he was with the Lord. Just saying :)

Okay first of all. Angela53510.. About the whole thing with John Lennon saying they were bigger than Jesus was misquoted I believe.
In the 60's and in the UK not a lot of people went to church anymore. Then when Beatlemania was invented, John Lennon said like "Churches, get your act together, people listen to us more than they listen to spirtual stuff" or something like that. Anyway, I think he meant it with good intentions, as in he probably meant they had "control" of the young people which I think he didnt want to have :p? Idk.
ALSO you all should listen to John Lennon's last two interviews, which is like 5 hours lol. He sounds REALLY, peaceful? Like with himself. I think if he would have been alive, he probably would have been a christian after some years.
That song Imagine etc was just a reflecting of himself, "imaging" peace within himself i believe, cause at that time he was angry at himself/the World..

Also, I do like a lot of christian songs, but I like The Beatles too. Perhaps some took drugs but it's way better music than todays stuff where Miley Cyrus actually MENTIONS drugs, and Little girls are singing along and twerking.... So I think it could've been worse :)
I hope you see my point.
Did you know the killer of John Lennon was struggling with christianity, and for years he was at this christian camp or something where the ministers joked about John Lennon singing, "Imagine John Lennon was dead, living life in peace, wooho" ..

ANYWAYS, thank you for commenting, and I found this really cool clip from an Elvis Concert where he mentions Christ. :) Pretty cool.

I suppose it depends on your definition of a Christian? Elvis believed in God, but was not religious. He was very spiritual. Does that make him a Christian? He died of an overdose -- yes. Does that no longer make him a Christian?
Honestly, it doesn't matter. It's between Elvis and God what he "was."
