I'm a really big fan of the Christian rock band Skillet, and I just wanted to see if there are any other panheads out there.

My favorite song, by them, has to be Salvation

Skillet aren't my most favourite band but I do enjoy their music. Admittedly, I've only heard four of their albums (two of their earliest and 2 of their more recent works) and own only two of those. I prefer their less electronica-soaked flavours.

I know just some of their songs, but I like them too! It's not my favourite musical style, but that's good.
What album do you suggest to listen to particularly?

My personal favorite is Collide. But, their most uplifting album, which helped me when I was being a downer, is their newest album, Rise.

I would say Comatose is their most well-rounded album. Its a rock album but has a nice blend of slower acoustic songs with heavier ones.

I'm into heavier stuff, and Collide was DEFINITELY a heavy album. Not a metal album, but it could easily be counted as hard-rock.

Skillet is overrated in my opinion.

They were good at one time. Their first album was fantastic. The only good albums they really had outside of that were Alien Youth and Collide. Once Awake hit I was completely done listening, songs were far to whiney and emo sounding, and several songs just sounded like blatant copycats of Three Days Grace who is a poor band of their own.

You're over thinking it. Skillet does a very good job singing about the struggles Christians go through - depression, questioning of faith, being attacked by Atheist, etc.

But, they also sing about Christians overcoming those things. Their newest album, Rise, is such an uplifting album.

honestly i love the ardent worship album more than any of the others, though it's totally different from the rock they usually play. i've been a fan since the self-titled album too, though the last couple albums i haven't really gotten into, mostly because i've been listening to much heavier Christian metal, or much different genres, not because i'm no longer a panhead.

i should probably listen to Awake & Rise. my wife has both of them, but i don't think i've even heard either one all the way through.

i liked Collide, especially the harder tracks like fingernails & obsession, was a little disappointed with the 'mainstreamness' of comatose, and then kinda lost track..

Just an aside, I've never before heard the nickname 'panheads' for Skillet fans. Is it an official term or something more informal?

i don't know if it's ever been promoted as a term by a record company, but fans have been calling themselves panheads since their first album. i first heard them at a youth retreat where they led the worship music, and we were using the name there, around the time of the first album, before they had gotten popular.
not sure (can't remember) if the band themselves encourages it or not but i kinda think they do
