heres back at you......
I'm divided on Samuel Barber and whether or not any of his music could ever be considered Christian. More like a deeply troubled man mired in sin who was begging God to have mercy on him. So in that regard, quite Christian. I wish he had issued more doctrinal statements about himself.
It's a confusing conundrum.
But I'm assuming you are referring to the people performing the piece, not necessarily the piece itself.
Why is there such a thing as "Catholic" music?
I've never heard of such a division in Christianity where certain beliefs need to have their own music.
Some doctrinal differences are great enough between denominations that one just has to choose. Depending on the denomination some of the doctrine is even unbiblical.
But as for musical style, it either would refer to doctrinal influence over the lyrics, or possibly to the style of music itself. For example, the Catholics are the only major denomination that regularly produce music in Latin (which I'll admit is actually quite beautiful when it is sang).
Even the hyms in a hymnal may reflect a denominational stance. Different denominations pick different hymns, or may forgo hymns altogether in favor of a more modern/contemporary style worship service.
