What you suggest is more dangerous to children than what you propose to eradicate. Those that survive would inherit a country without liberty or law.

We'd lose both the world and our souls in the process.
Nay, for if freedom is the freedom of the gun then we would be enslaved to the ways of the gun and the fruits thereof are bullets. And if the law is the law of the gun then the law is only as useful as bullets, and bullets have only two uses, to kill or to be fired in vanity.

As for America it is readily apparant there is all ready neither true liberty nor law in America. Beware those that promise you liberty but are themselves slaves to corruption.

As for the world and the souls, neither guns nor we the people made either, therefore we cannot lose either one for the Lord Christ Jesus owns both to take and give as he so pleases.

Your flowing sentences with heavily paraphrased Christianity thrown in really don't say much of anything. You speak like a man who's not either not read enough of the old testament to know that there is precedent for self defense, or as someone who has never had to think about the loss of his own life - or the life of others.

A Christian's first inclination of how to protect others shouldn't be "how can we legislate away evil" - it should be "if the time comes, what can I do to protect those around me." A lot of conservatives are simply unwilling to take any options off the table just to make the anti's feel better about how screwed up our country is.

The real issue with the US is we are a violent country. Of course we have more gun deaths - we have more homicides period. UN studies show us tied with Nigeria for homicides per 100,000. Gun laws aren't going to change that - curtailing gang violence and teaching children how to avoid becoming violent offenders is.

Further laws will not serve to reduce crime significantly, save perhaps stricter minimum sentencing for gun crimes (which a lot of conservatives would get behind in a heartbeat). Making ownership unpalatable to law abiding citizens ensures that less of them will take advantage of their rights, and that safety net that they provide. There is already a background check, what more do you think can be done? A registry? That's exactly how people lose their rights - registration is always the first step towards confiscation. Even Canada has disbanded their long gun registry.

Have you ever looked at the stats for how many crimes are prevented by guns? Most people haven't, because there aren't any government studies on that. Instead the CDC reports suicides as gun homicides, and includes officer involved shootings in that mix too.

And if you insist on playing the Christ card and claiming whatever happens is God's will - Christ did see fit to put guns into the hands of the American population. This happened by a consititional amendment over 200 years ago (1791).

Honestly though, when I hear someone arguing that anything a government does is God's will, I get a foul taste in my mouth. Nothing any human being touches is ever perfect, and I wouldn't call any government Christ like.

By the precedent set with the 21st Amendment to the US Constitution any amendment is subject to be repealed at the will of the elected servants of the citizen sovereigns of the United States of America.

I was told we'd lose our world and souls if we outlaw guns or if we restrict guns. My answer is true, we do not own the world nor our souls for we created neither. God is greater than the gun. Can ye elders not see that the gun has been turned against your children? It's worth more to get rid of the gun than to keep it. Such a weapon should not even be possible to get in the hands of children to begin with, yet it is and it is increasingly common. It is only logical if you reduce the numebr of guns you will reduce gun crimes.

Gun owners won't give up their guns even if outlawed though, for obvious reason that then they would no longer be gun owners. Therefore we need to get some real gun restrictions we can't keep going the status quo on this one. But the fact we in truth do not need a gun because Jesus is Christ is fact. God is more powerful than guns, atomic bombs even.

Guns are like prohibition. You make them illegal, only the bad guys will have them, and the black market will thrive. Guns don't kill, people do. A gun is a tool, and a sometimes necessary one. If anything, we need better security and Law Enforcement. But most of all, people need to stop living in fear. If more people have guns, there will be less violence.

Hey Colt, you may want to look at thread dates prior to bumping a thread that is over two years old.
