Kenneth, I don't remember where I read it, but several years ago I read that fewer than 1 in 20 people who profess to be a Christian read their Bible at all. During my years of teaching young adults, I found it difficult to get many of them to prepare for a weekly Sunday School class. When I read the CC comments, I feel that many here only partially study the scriptures that they are commenting on.
You hit the nail on the head. And even if the study rates are higher we don't all grasp the concepts the same, learn the same, retain the same, or even think the same. Heck most don't even read the same bible what do you expect. But your point is spot on

I wouldn't expect you to understand as obvious that you don't, misquotation by anyone is not a issue are you above misquotations if not get a grip. This should really be under the casting stones thread if its that much of an issue that folks get their undergarments in a bunch!!!

You're right pastac, my grasp of the obvious is not as brilliant as yours.

Well I do suspect this is here for people to further push their political opinion and agenda rather than he doesn't know the word. So much for honoring your authorities, your never gonna find the perfect leader of a country, so long as your looking for flaws your going to find them. Thank God that our leaders arnt feeding us to lions.

I'm not American, but if our Prime Minister used a trite cliché and presented it as a Bible verse, he would be thrown to the wolves!

If you are going to make a speech, google the saying, parable etc and get it right!

Seriously, I can't believe this guy has a Harvard law degree. The whole world just heard him twist scripture and mangle it. Not that most people would know! That is the saddest part of all!

Haha. You made me laugh. I bet he can quote the Koran just fine though.

At least he tried....

President Obama referred to the Bible on Tuesday as he was speaking about immigration reform in Nashville, but he confused some of the lines and even threw in a proverb that appears nowhere in the religious text.
“The good book says, don’t throw stones in glass houses,” he said. “Or … make sure we’re looking at the log in our eye before we are pointing out the mote in other folks’ eyes.”

Having spent some time at law school myself, I can tell you part of the problem is that he has a degree from Harvard SOL.

I don't wonder. I don't care what color your skin is, I just want someone to lead who actually has the skills to lead. This guy has no actual skill. Apparently he is also lousy at golf and basketball.

There's reference to glass houses in the Bible, its right after the passage, "Step on a crack, break your mother's back."
Heresy! It's break the devils back!

Got a better one than this one for you ...

The Narrow Gate!

That one is so old, it stinks. Kinda like Lazarus coming out of the tomb. Wonder why no one rushed to embrace him? How would you smell, being dead and wrapped in grave clothes for four days?

Same with that thread.
