I listened to the speech and to the rebuttal from the Dems. Honestly, I thought Benji did a good job. I thought he portrayed what a Head of State should look/sound like when speaking in public. The ONE point of his speech that (in my opinion) may well be very detrimental to the Administration and the Congressional Democrats was the assertion of the "Sunset Clause" contained in the current agreement being negotiated by the Administration with Iran.
IF this clause is ACTUALLY a part of that agreement, it will cause severe political damage to Obama and to the Congressional Democrats who support him if a deal is reached with Ira.
IF this clause is not now/nor ever has been a part of the negotiation, then Benji will suffer the damage.
I find it hard to believe that a Prime Minister of Israel would stand before a joint session of Congress and tell a blatant lie about the existence of such a clause. Especially knowing that it's existence or non existence could be so easily verified.
I thought the Democrats who responded did not fare well. Seriously, everything they accused Benji of doing in his speech is exactly what they were doing in their rebuttal.
This accusation that Benji was wrong to politicize his speech so close to the Israeli elections is absurd, since the campaign gurus of the Administration are currently in Israel working with Benji's challenger to defeat Benji in the upcoming election.
Hypocrisy shines through like the sun shines in Death Valley.
