Supposedly pope francis was messing around with one of those relics...you know...the kind where they save some old dead guys blood in a vial. Anyway, supposedly, the dried blood partially liquefied after the 'blessing" and some cardinal saw it and proclaimed it a miracle...watch the video. pope francis looked at it as if, "Cool!" What time is lunch. He himself didn't seem over excited.

Well, I have always said...at the end of the age when miracle workers come on the scene empowered by Satan himself how will the children of God be able to tell the difference (if) miracles are still in effect.......yeah I know...here we go....!

Well, we do know that many will be deceived by these things. They're willing to be deceived really. Strong delusions.

Interpretation is always the issue. They observed a chemical phenomenon and unilaterally proclaimed it as a miracle. No room for real thinking but just another dogma.

You guys are a hoot. "Popes look evil!" Yet, at the same time, we will swear that demons (or whatever...) will appear as beautiful people, attracting all sorts of followers to their charismatic charm and beauty.

I have a personal friend who is catholic. SHe is dyed in the wool to the extent that she honestly believes that when she partakes of the Lord's Supper, that the bread becomes the actual flesh of JESUS CHRIST and the wine becomes HIS actual blood because the priest touches it. THIs would make her a cannibal, and yet, when the wine dribbles down the corner of her mouth, it is quickly dobbed or wiped with a hanky or kleenex and guess what...it is NOT actual blood at all..YET..she will argue until the day she dies that she is drinking plasma, red celled, white celled DNA blood of JESUS. GO figure.

Willie T..I whole heartedly agree with you on this topic. I have to laugh at the lack of deep spiritual understanding that is exhibited by those that would kiss the pope's ring and run to a confessional booth.

Well, I do have a hard time coming down too hard on the rank & file congregants. You see, I was raised Baptist, and then switched to CoC, and just like almost any mainstream "Christian", I spent the better part of my life believing (trusting the teachings of) what the people whom I thought SHOULD know, told me were the truths of the Scriptures they read to us from the pulpit.

It has only been in the last six or seven years I have been doing what I call "virgin reading" of the Bible. (Nothing to do with The Virgin Mary) I am staggered by the overwhelming number of doctrines and dogmas I have found that many of us right here on this forum would honestly DIE for, that I am beginning to see as largely superstitious folly that has simply been passed down, and passed down, and passed down, until it is almost considered blasphemy to dare to actually read it for yourself, and come to ANY conclusion but that which you were indoctrinated with. And, I am talking "Protestant" stuff, here.

If I could have been so mistaken and blindly "led" by the interpretations of others for most of my life, how can I justify vilifying simple Catholic church goers who are doing nothing less than I was doing for 50 or 60 years? They are, truly, doing just exactly what most of us do. They are following what they were taught by their parents and teachers and preachers, (in their case, "priests"), who were also taught by others, is an honest and reverent religion. We do the same. Oh, "Yes we do!"

Even when the vast majority of us read the Bible, we really only read it as meaning what we were taught it is supposed to be saying in any given instance. That "virgin reading" I mentioned is not normal for us, and it took me a few years to use that method, without automatically reverting back to inculcated rhetoric.

It hasn't happened since 1848. The pope was joking a little. They don't proclaim miracles as easily as some think. I've read about the chemical reaction. I wouldn't know if it was a miracle or a chemical reaction, or both. Anyone with dark eye sockets looks a little creepy for some reason. I feel bad for those who have to live with folks calling them names and thinking they are not nice because of how they look. We all want to believe those in authority. None of them are anything more than human. They just have been educated in things some of us have not. When we want to believe, we see things that others tell us are there unless we see something obviously odd. John 14:27

Their "evil look" is a reflection of their soul.

I think that is the best way. On the rare occasions that I get to bring the message I constantly refer to the Bible...yes, I'm old fashioned and still use a paper Bible and read from it so that the congregation see that what I am saying is actually scriptural. I give them the references and ask them to look these verses up and read for themselves. I said once that if I or the regular pastor says anything not to simply assume what they hear is correct.

I think way too many assume what they hear is correct and rely on the pastor or speaker. We're all responsible for our own spiritual growth... and also accountable for growth. Jesus promised the Spirit would lead us into all understanding and truth. I think it's kinda hard for him to do this if we won't even spend some time looking for truth.

How is a triangle evil? :p

Ha. That was a joke. You'd have to see some other topics where people make comments about triangles and other shapes being evil. Most say that they are representative of the devil and the illuiminati and the new age and other off the wall stuff. Generally they are card carrying members of the tinfoil hat club.
