Senate Democratic Leader Reid announces retirement

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid announced Friday he will retire at the end of his term, closing a long and controversial career in Congress that spanned four decades.

Good riddance! And don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out, either!

No doubt I agree, but unfortunately the damage is already done.....tragic for sure......I just wish he would step down, leave and get it over with....!

Never been too big a fan on Harry Reid, especially as one of the old guard US politicians. However, since it be that he has decided to retire that is good. He lost Senate Majority Leader anyways. So now he's just another Senator. Got a reputation though, so pretty significant US news. Harry Reid has served long enough, and even he is older and had that accident. Guy deserves to chill out and rest. My feeling is it is not just about what's best for America, but what is also best for Harry Reid.

I suspect Harry's replacement will be just as bad as Harry. As a Nevadan, I have mixed emotions about his leaving, because he has long led the battle against dumping all the nation's nuclear waste right here in Nevada.
