State senator won’t back down, apologize for saying he’d shoot a cop

[Sen. Ernie Chambers, a] state lawmaker from Omaha defiantly stood Thursday on the floor of the Nebraska Legislature and rejected many of his colleagues’ calls for him to apologize — or even resign — for comparing cops to ISIS terrorists and suggesting he’d shoot a cop if he weren’t nonviolent and had a gun.

"I meant what I said and I said what I meant,” Chambers said.
The worst part is, his clueless constituents are likely applauding him, and can't wait to cast another vote for the idiot the next time he's on the ballot.

What do you expect from a man who is an atheist, and is neither Republican or Democrat.
His political affliation is Independent and he doesn't believe in God, and even was in a lawsuit against God.....

You are correct. And in 2008 a judge threw out the case because Almighty God was not properly notified due to His unlisted home address.

wow. just wow.

The police, they is not ISIS. Is they?
Is they is, or is they not? Is this what you're asking?

I say they is not. This is my opinion.

I'm sorry, but why are his comments so unbelievable? I'm pretty sure anyone who disagrees with the fact that we are already in a police state doesn't have access to the internet, or a television (although I don't trust televisions as much).

You mean to tell me that cops don't destroy our rights/kill innocent people everyday?

Sorry but I completely agree with the guy's statements. It would be ignorant to feel safe around a cop whom you didn't personally know. MOST cops have an "us vs. them" mentality and stopped being cops with the invention of the taser gun and easement on physical fitness requirements. Now any former school bullied victim can become a cop and exercise complete and total power/domination.

Well, maybe one day when he is alone and no cops around he will find himself in a precarious situation and reap the reward of his moronic comment!

Well I guess you'd better move to another country where you trust the cops.If you think the cops are like ISIS here you need to go to Russia perhaps,or Germany.

Do you have ANY credible proof to support this assertion? Just wondering. Have you actually met and analyzed "most cops" to be able to state that they "have an us vs. them mentality?" Thousands upon thousands of Law Enforcement Officers around the Country......you must be really tired after all that........or are you possibly projecting your own biased opinion upon people you neither know or have ever even met?

No doubt.....

911 for a cop in our neck of the woods translates into a Saiga Semi-Auto 12 guage loaded with number 4's and buck shot or maybe a mini-14 with a 30 round clip loaded with current production SS 109 penetrators or some hot ballistic tips.....

And thats the problem I guess. I grew up not needing cops in Alaska. It was expected that if an intruder broke into your house, you need to grab your gun and take care of the situation because nobody was coming in time anyway. Cops were more like a clean up crew up there :/

It's rather unfair to characterize the religious and political affiliation of someone as being causally associated with their overall political outlook. Independents and atheists certainly can't be generally characterized as harboring extremist views, and it's altogether too easy to forget that exceptions don't define the general rule.

Like the other guy said, you still have to call them. You can shoot an intruder that breaks in, no problem. You cannot however, just dispose of their body in the back yard if you were forced to kill them in self defense. Society still expects you to call the cops to get the aftermath cleaned up and the legalities squared away.

However, he said he knows young people in his community look up to him and might take his comments literally. “I’m not advocating that anybody, especially anybody in my community, go out and shoot people,” Chambers said.

In related news, Jonathan Swift advocates cooking and eating Irish infants.

Society expects a lot of things, sometimes they are disappointed............depends on where you live. If you live FAR enough out in the country with no neighbors close enough to hear the shots fired, well, that opens up a whole new range of options when it comes to disposing of the body. Just saying...........

Yes, lol. Im talking about lawful self defense though. Its generally not legal to bury a body in your backyard or dump it in the woods, no matter what the circumstances around it are. Plus, even if you have to kill an intruder.....it's not like you cant have compassion for their families sake and allow them to bury them properly, etc.... I only brought that up to point out that even people that absolutely hate the roles police officers play are still forced to deal with them. Its not a matter of calling the cops if you need help or because you want them there, its a matter of being obligated to do so. That was in response to the whole "I dare you to call the cops if you need help" comment.
