Does the digital era herald the end of history? - BBC News

Has the digital transformation of our society put the future of recorded history in jeopardy? Many internet observers fear so. But why, and what do they mean?

[h=2]Data threats[/h]In the past, we wrote on stone, wax tablets, parchment, calfskin vellum and paper - anything we could get our hands on. And these hard copies lasted pretty well - some cave paintings survived more than 40,000 years, while Egyptian hieroglyphics date from about 3500BC.But anyone who's seen their photo or music collections wiped out, knows how easily digital files can be lost.

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) from a nuclear explosion, for example, could easily wipe out entire electricity networks and effectively bring civilisation to a crashing halt. Computers, unlike printed books, need power to work.

We're only just beginning to understand how important this data is and what the consequences might be if we lost it.

History or recorded history lost? It can't be because History is upheld by God Himself. History and future history , man does not hold that up. Sovereign God already knows history and it will play out according to how He has laid it out. God is NOT dependent on man to make sure He ,God gets it Right , He will See that it is done according to His Word. Data, the electronic age? Including internet, cell phones , TV , etc . This is a fulfillment of Daniels teaching that knowledge shall travel to and fro and this done very quickly.

unlike the bible that was wrote on something (see the above ) we have a bible in the form of a book., as long as you have the book, the data in that book is safe.

the report is talking, more about mankind in 2015 and how he protects his data, by computer, that can crash. and how the world uses computer, to store many records that are not on a written material ie a book or paper. etc

By definition history is whatever we like to or are able to record.

That's a good point, but they're also coming from an evolutionary perspective. Cave paintings are post-Flood. Probably from a time not long after the tower of Babel dispersion. That puts them at 4,300 years old at the very most.

written work was not the first way to leave a messages , cave paintings had to be translated to a meaning.
written work had to start at some point, ie stone tablets from the mountain. (moses)

food for thought.
so was Genesis, had or could have been written after, words being able to be put on paper or cave painting. to be written or passed down etc from words of mouth to be written on paper. etc

yet it is clear in some books of the bible, the writer could write. ie ink to paper. etc

AGREE.. but who Controls History? is that Man or a Sovereign Eternal God.. God does.. man believes he/she does , and even is so presumptuous as to 'believe' God wouldnt Exist if it werent for Man existing or man , Helping God, because God is weak and unable to get it done.. You see this attitude alot today on this planet. indeed... very dangerous.. but very Telling Times, for those who are Looking for something!

control and who writes history , is a different dilemma,
for example, some thought the world was square. other things have came to correctness or proof via science or exploring the world that we live in.
not every war, was won or fought on equal term. some mite say, history was wrote by the winners of these wars.

but reading the bible has open our eyes. to how god and certain men were used with god, and tried to work against god. these histories has made change to certain things.
old covenant to new covenant. and in some cases, god has led or let man discover certain things by them selfs.
