I have use batteries and solar panels to power my home for over three years now at a cost of less than $2000 to install.
I love not paying a power bill every month!

My question is how long will they last, and what type of power will they deliver in their lifetime.

The 10 KWH unit delivers about 300 KWH per month. That's about 10% ($30) of my average monthly power usage. At that rate the return on investment for me would be about 10 years. I suspect that that is the average life cycle of the unit.

For me I'll stick to the grid and use my 10 KW LPG/LNG powered emergency generator in times of power outages.

I still support the development of solar power systems and improved efficiency of all electric products.
