‘Jade Helm’ military exercise causing political firestorm in Texas, western states

A massive military exercise planned in states across the American West has touched off a political firestorm, with several top Texas officials now questioning the military’s plans – if only to calm the Internet and constituent furor surrounding it.

The seven-state war simulation exercise, known as “Jade Helm 15,” is planned for this summer. It involves training exercises on private and public land – while such exercises are hardly unique, even the military acknowledges the “size and scope” of this one sets it apart.

While the White House and Pentagon are downplaying concerns, this hasn’t stopped a barrage of blogs and tweets warning about whether the federal government is preparing for “martial law.” Even actor Chuck Norris is keeping his “eyes of a ranger” on the situation.
On a map of the area involved in the exercise, the states of Texas and Utah are labeled "hostile" -- coincidentally, conservative states where Jesus and guns are at the forefront of freedoms taken seriously. California, Nevada and Colorado are labeled "Permissive," presumably toward whatever "hostile" forces Texas and Utah represent, while New Mexico is labeled "Uncertain, leaning hostile," and Arizona is "Uncertain, leaning friendly."

Now I don't believe for a second that the military is doing anything but training for modern-day eventualities. I believe that's what the commanders at the Pentagon intended when this exercise was drawn up. But the jumpiness of not just a few conspiracy theorists but of tens of thousands of average, everyday citizens regarding this event certainly points to how distrusting the American people have become of government in general, and this administration in particular.

Conspiracy theorists promote the idea the government is at least practicing, if not intending to actually establish, martial law with this summer exercise. A lot of good, solid, law-abiding, non-fearful citizens are wondering if, this time, the conspiracy theorists may be a lot closer to the truth than usual. It certain is practice for something. The question is, what?

To label states as hostile seems like TRYING to pick a fight. Given that this administration has purged the military of commanders not friendly to it, I think we should be very suspicious of this exercise. Our govt is acting like it's an enemy of the people and has been long before this exercise was conceived.

The exercise makes sense. Texas particularly has a little habit of threatening secession. So this exercise seems to me as part of an obvious contingency plan in case they make good on their threats. The problem is by going through with such exercises you only stoke their suspicions even more. I think they should cancel the exercises and have a military parade instead which ideally would not seem as threatening and boost morale of both by making both military/government forces and state/people forces feel appreciated, but we'll see.

So you endorse "threatening" one of our own sovereign states? Really?

Unfrickin' believable!

Sometimes I think you're this provocative just so you can count the hate mail you receive.

Lol, I am making no provacation, I am only telling you why they do it. You don't think the secession threats are provacative and threatens the sovereignty of the USA? Like I said you basically got two sides that are only provoking eachother. So my solution would be to nix the exercise thus nixing the government's counter-provacation. As a novel alternative, instead hold a military parade that would ideally serve as a celebration of federal and state and local unification without making either side look to be weak.

Lol, I have received no hate mail at all.

Being clueless as to why they do it, your opinion isn't worth the electrons you irritated to post.

The number of people who may advocate or favor secession are miniscule compared to the number of people suspicious of what the government is actually up to with "Jade Helm 15."

Won't happen. Your president likes to provoke.

Oh, like this one?

Yeah, what a wonderful idea! It fits perfectly the ideology of your president, too! I'd write him and suggest it if I were you.

(Fortunately, I'm not you.)

Lol, I have received no hate mail at all.
And finally ...

Not sure what your counsel of puppets is trying to tell you.

I'm not clueless. I remember Rick Perry even pulling the secession card not long a go.

Either way, anarchy vs tyranny is a rigged game, you can't win it by playing for either side.

That looks to be a rather epic military parade right there, but I had something a lil more in the American style in mind:

Most other clueless people don't realize they're clueless, either.

You really need to dump your liberally biased media sources, and stop taking that lying scumbag Barack Obama at his word while you're at it. Here's what Perry really said.

Yeah, any follower of Barack would know that, for sure.

That's because it's Chinese. Perfect inspiration for the anti-America idiot in the White House.

Perry's own comments are videotaped and in classic Rick Perry fashion he of course then went on to speak quite a bit on the topic thereafter. There's plenty of video on just that alone.

What, is public domain video of our own forefathers now liberally biased media sources?

If you want the Chinese style military parade I'm sure that could be arranged, but me thinking it might be a bit of a culture shock for them Texans and they'll get the wrong impression.

Why not do it the American way like unto the ancients, and have a parade, block party bbqs, just a general celebration? Cancel Jade Helm, implement operation American Unity.
