He presented Abbas with a medallion and explained that it represented the "angel of peace destroying the bad spirit of war."..
...Francis said he thought the gift was appropriate since "you are an angel of peace."

My, my how the Papacy has changed. I'll let the Papists themselves argue if it is for the better or the worse.

I'm just glad these gents have no ultimate spiritual authority.

I'd only support a Papal opinion of the Middle East if it involved a reestablishment of the Kingdom of Jerusalem.

I think that if I were forced to take advice from the pope or Donald Duck, I would choose Donald Duck.

On that score, the older, crankier Luther may have agreed with the Pope about Abbas.

That is not his overriding legacy though. This is an academic quibble for another time and place, but one I'd gladly have with someone as intelligent as yourself. :)

Oh you're just getting started. This guy's a "real winner." Keep digging. *barf*.

Sounds like a real winner...

"His doctoral thesis later became a book (titled The Other Side: The Secret Relations between Nazism and the Leadership of the Zionist Movement) which denied both the scope and gravity of the Nazi Holocaust. According to Abbas, "only a few hundred thousand Jews" were killed in the Holocaust and those mostly through collusion between the Nazis and the Zionists."

The pope is trying to appease Islam since ISIS has announced "We will take Rome." He doesn't realize the stupid, dangerous game he is playing.

I understand your opinions of the Roman Catholic church, and the Pope. But cant you try to express your opinions without name calling (poop... i mean thats calling him faeces) and at least respect leaders in the way you put an argument. I feel so uncomfortable that this site would virtually call a religious leader childish offensive names.

Well I dont think it is the site as it is certain people expressing their frustration at one who deceives people by doing homage to obviously false religions.

Those of us that are not Catholic do not see the pope as a religious leader,I do even less now that I see this pope bowing to Islam. I think DC was joking and not literally calling him feces.

Hey, if you wish to respect a false teacher that claims to be the Vicar of God on Earth, have the ability to say who makes it as a saint or not, claims the ability to forgive men of sins and leads billions to hell by his false teaching then have a ball....he is not a religious leader, but a heretical false teacher which s not of God.......sorry you are so easily offended which is a sure sing of spiritual immaturity friend.

Were you offended at John the Baptist calling the false teachers of his day low life snakes in the grass or Jesus calling the false teachers of his day blind fools, or one's who make their disciples two fold the children of hell or hypocrites?
