103-year-old Georgia woman banned from her church

For nearly a century, 103-year-old Genora Hamm Biggs has attended the Union Grove Baptist Church in Georgia -- even working as the church's secretary for some 40 years.

But Biggs -- a parishioner since she was 11 years old -- was banned last month from attending after she disagreed with the church's pastor over his preaching style, Fox affiliate WAGA-TV reported.

On Sunday, law enforcement was called to the small, white church in Elberton, Ga., after Biggs decided to attend service anyway, according to the station. Police said there was nothing they could do because the matter is a civil dispute between Biggs and the church.

Biggs told the station that she and the current pastor of six years, Rev. Tim Mattox, have long sparred over his preaching style, which she characterizes as a "Holiness style" that she claims doesn't belong in the Baptist church.

"At one point, he had a crew in here and they were hollering and falling out in the middle of the floor," Biggs told the station. "We don't do that in the Baptist Church."
Amen, Sister Biggs! Hang in there and more power to you for upholding biblical truth!

What kind of an idiot would "ban" a 103 year-old from church?

Or handle the matter unbiblically... I mean the pastor called the cops on a matter like this?

What is he afraid of? Is he afraid she will refuse to give him that butterscotch candy from the bottom of her purse that has been cuddling with that gently used tissue, because his preaching still sucks?
If that is the case we should E-mail him and tell him that butterscotch really isn't that good of a candy anyways...

The kind of idiot who is also a self-centered power-hungry pastor who thinks he's "god" in his little kingdom of his local church. Best guess, anyway.

Preaching style? Good grief, both need to cool it.

Well, if she is to be believed -- and I'm not willing to question a 103-year-old saint -- his preaching leaves a great deal to be biblically desired. Not to mention adding stuff that ain't in there.

Yeah if people were 'hollering and falling out' as she claims then he probably is a terrible pastor. No need for that false christianity charismatic junk in a true church.

How hard could it be to win a fist fight with a 103 year old lady?

If the pastor isn't man enough for that, he doesn't belong in the pulpit!

I go to a Baptist church and I wouldn't be too thrilled if they started throwing in charismatic stuff. The Pastor sounds like he has a big head. I wouldn't be surprised if he is one of those "do not touch the Lord's anointed" types and that's why he's making a big drama about someone disagreeing with him.

GMTA. I was just preparing to post this:

Georgia woman, 103, returns to church after exit of preacher who banned her

Nothing could keep 103-year-old Genora Hamm Biggs from her church -- not even a pastor who expelled her from her place of worship for nearly a century.

Biggs is now allowed to return to the Union Grove Baptist Church in Elberton, Ga. -- and the pastor who gave her the boot is the one who won't be back, according to her attorney.

Following her expulsion, the Rev. Tim Mattox, the pastor of six years, claimed he received death threats. On Wednesday, parishioners announced that Mattox was leaving along with other members of the congregation to form a new church.

Biggs was then handed the key to the church and is now responsible, along with a handful of other members, for electing a new pastor, her attorney, Ken Dious, told FoxNews.com.
I second the emotion.

Charismatic ministers seem to trend more toward the cult style of church management. I'm shocked she stood up. I would've left, but then I'm 25 and not 4x25+3.

I wonder what kind of congregation would allow such a thing to happen to a woman that age
