People are always posting the most negative image of People of Color on this forum. There are great achievements in People of Color Communities that the Media does not show because there is a purpose for that. I lived in a white community, there are PROBLEMS that are destroying their children and community too. Never hear on the news and the American Pie is rotten to the core. I hear white parents all the time saying : I am tired of my lazy child or adult child because white parents are running out of money. That is why I like Dr. Phil because he shows that white folks having problems too and white kids tell all what is happening in their homes. Last week I seen a young guy who attended school with my son. I stated the following to him, "I have not seen you on campus." He stated that he had dropped out of school and he had a full ride. White privilege can be a curse because many white students do not desire to graduate from college because afraid of the real world. I have a neighbor who son decided to stay an extra year in college to play football that meant the parent had to pay extra 55,000 dollars. I hear what the white parents are saying and it is not good. Do not think everything is perfect in the American Pie families because it is not.

Lol. Im white too and I am aware white people have problems of their own. I'm not saying white equals no problems and black equals alot of problems. I was just making people aware of an issue in the United States that even carries over into the church unfortunately. White issues don't discount the fact that there is a system in place to oppress African Americans. Racism is an issue that never died unfortunately, how can it. People can die but their ideas live on and get passed from one generation to the next. And I'm also not saying that there are no prejudiced white people. It's just here in America black people don't generally have the power to oppress white people. Which is why as you say if a black cop did that to a white student, that cop would most likely be reprimanded in one way or another. The only reason these incidnences get so much media attention when it happens to black people is because for one thing the cops get away with it. This equals controversy which attracts ratings. Ratings from both white supremacists that want to uphold the system of white supremacy and people like you that hate injustice.

The problem I have with this whole incident is having a police officer there at all.
A teacher is meant to have control of a class.

If a pupil does a sit in, then simply they get a detention. If that does not work, they are excluded from class at the next opportunity.

If a pupil for sitting in a chair and being mouthy is now a crime, the teacher unfortunately has lost the respect of their class.

My daughter went to a parents evening with me. Every teacher had glowing things to say about her except her tutor.
What it came down to was he could not control the class, he got angry and picked on the wrong people, and they had little respect for him. His way of handling it was to blame the kids for talking.

So this whole situation was very, very, very badly handled and has now made international news. If you do not see a problem with this, then unfortunately you maybe part of the problem yourself.

If this would had been an Anglo Saxon(white student) do think the officer would done this. Would everyone responses be the same. WOW!! What if a African American(black) cop would had done same to a white student! Would your responses be the same or double standard?
My response would be the same. Read both of them and deem for yourself.

Fair enough. As a former correctional officer for youthful offenders and a former police officer who worked the graveyard shift in the ghetto, I've experienced many unpleasant things. Seen people do some awful things to their neighbors, even family members.

This particular officer has been through a lot at this school. The racial breakdown is predominantly black. This officer has confronted gang members and was sued by the gang members parents who refuse to accept the path their child was choosing to go down. The officer had to defend himself from a civil rights suit. He won the suit, but those experiences leave scars. The school gave him a culture of excellence award, knowing he was that thin blue line preventing gangsters from creating a violent atmosphere for all the student body. Now the usual African American activist groups are circling their wagons. They are already claiming that black students have been dealing with oppressive whites for years. They want all law enforcement off their campuses. If they get their wishes, the school will decline, white families will take their children out and put them in mostly white private schools. We've seen this repeated all over the country. It never ends well for minority students wanting a quality education.

In regard to the take down you felt was excessive, I want to say that many, if not most police officers have experienced an arrest where they were unable to quickly subdue a suspect and the situation got out of control because people nearby got involved and jumped the officer. The show of force has to be swift and it has to be decisive. There was no back-up. Had one or two other students decided to get involved, the officer would have had to flee or protect his service weapon from being taken, and also been forced to escalate in order to avoid becoming a victim. These are mitigating circumstances. You won't be hearing that in the coming days. You will hear charges of racism and statements saying the woman was behaving herself and complying with school staff.
I was in EMT in a large city back in the day, and even though I came to render aid in all circumstances, I had to get physical more than once, so I know where you're coming from regarding swift and decisive action. All officers want to get home safely, and I support officers, but I'm just thinking, if I was a judge, the officer would have to explain himself very thoroughly.

One thing that does jump out at me with this video is that none of the students wanted anything to do with this situation which does not bode well for the student being arrested. If she were innocent, students would have reacted differently, but it seems they washed their collective hands of the situation.
