...and they do it not more than two days after rising tensions in the south China sea. Hmmmm.....could be a coincidence I suppose.

Despite the suspicions you then cast on China, I like this because I saw this story earlier. This is even one of the best news stories we have had this year. Yay for good news for a change. China and US military exercises are not new. It's boys playing with toys punking each other out and stuff. Let's not worry about that today.

Praise Jesus indeed if this indeed is true and will go into effect. Seems to me there is a catch in a stylistically Chinese way and that they will simply have a Two Child Policy instead according to our media. Even still though praise Jesus anyway, it will help in some way. Even such a small change is still a major victory in the war against abortion, government oppression/persecution, the overall death culture, etc. If China continues to do what is right and even lifts the persecution of the Christians, may they prosper greatly. I would think it almost impossible, but I also never thought I'd live to see the end of One Child Policy, much less so soon and so easily. So anything is truly possible with God.

Some articles I've read on this.

You do need the required permits in order to have a second child. Single women cannot apply.

I don't believe it has much to do with what is happening in the South China Sea. There was some data released that showed a graph identical to the one for Japan. China and Japan do not have enough young people to pay for older people. Actually, the U.S. is in that same boat, sort of. We use to have 16 working people for every retired person on Social Security. Now we have 3 working for each person on Social Security. Ask Paul Ryan, the bean counter, what that means for future retirees. Japan is trying to get Koreans to move there and begin paying into their retirement system. China figures it can simple tell / order it's people to be more fruitful and squeeze out a few more tax payers to support the aging population. But they will still have to figure out how to house and feed an additional 300,000,000 more people.

The one problem I see with both of your posts is the assumption that a communist govt has the individual's liberty in mind. In China...you are a number....not a sovereign entity. 1.3 billion and counting. Personally..I think china is gearing up for war with the west ...and the lifting of the one child policy is strategic. They are gonna have to replace a lot of dead people when it comes to fruition.

Lol there is no assumption the CCP has anyone's best interest in mind except for their own. China is also highly dynamic, kinda comes along with having countless amounts of people as the stars of the sky. They will always have problems, just like us. Nevertheless, I'll still take it as good news to praise Jesus for because it will lighten one of the most grievous and controversial yokes in China, even for Christians over there of which this has been a big issue for them for decades.

What's the difference? Aborted on the battle field or in womb?

The chance to avoid the battlefield. The chance to have a life. The chance to have many chances. The chance to find God.

Even aside from the direct impact on abortion and fertility issues, it lightens the yoke upon our Christian brethren in China. Even if they aren't forced to do an abortion or to not have kids, its still used as leverage against them. Or if they speak out for say even against One Child Policy or abortion in general they get persecuted. So it will lessen the oppressive yoke somewhat for them. The praise is to Jesus, and gives them and us occasion to praise Jesus too.

They only lifted it to replace it with a two child policy. So they still control life and death, and there will still be forced abortions etc.

Aye that is true too. Indeed must be wary of the CCP. Nevertheless though it also helps to strengthen the case to transist for China to be more open and free, which their government so far seems to be moving towards under Xi Jinping. Alas though the paradigm in China can turn on a dime at any time and frequently in history too. The CCP is powerful but its highly paranoid about change. Perhaps rightly so. To try to even manage countless people is easier said than done. To try to control them, it is not possible. I'm still somewhat surprised they're even moving this fast.

I think ideally allowing two children will reduce some abortions There is the forced abortion indeed, but more startlingly is the infanticide and such not even directed by the government but because in certain areas of their culture they desire a male child, so the people as individuals or families kill babies or abort them if they are girls. Not only that direct problem itself but that creates a certain stigma and negative culture against women. Hopefully by allowing at least two children, and maybe changing that upwards in the future, girls will be more equally valued. Like for example if for say a couple's first child is a girl, perhaps they will not discard her immediately in hopes that at least the second child may be a boy.
