We don't hear a lot about the slaughter going on there? Unless its has some political purpose the media don't really care it seems?

Exactly, most likely because even Mr. Obama himself was having this opinion to the Kenyan terror attack earlier this year:

Obama Doesn't Identify 147 Victims in Kenya Massacre as 'Christians' or Jihadi Group as 'Islamic'

At least BBC has more guts than Obama in calling al-Shabab an islamist group and noting that the focus of police's attention in those countries are churches and shopping malls.

I think the issue is closer to the cover up and euphemisms of the libs.
