russia habitually sends its pilots into the air space of other countries simply to prove that they can...

it is about time someone showed russia that their pilots can't just fly wherever they please...

I don't believe you could document (m)any instances. That's a media-driven perception. Every time I've read a news article that said that in the headline, the article itself said the Ruskies were in international airspace.

No, she is right, the Russians have been buzzing a lot of people's airspace the past few years, including ours in America.

Russian bomber flights buzzing U.S. airspace doubled last year - Washington Times

I still personally wouldn't shoot them down since playing a game of chicken between the two current most powerful empires is no good for anyone. I think this incident proves that both Russia and NATO need to back off some and take some time to re-evaluate lest the brinksmanship of both sides goes too far and they lose their balance and fall off the edge.

She said the Russians have entered others' airspaces. That's just not true. They are flying closer than they usually do, but that's not violating another's airspace. There may have been some violations in Finland, but there's not many, if any, beyond that.

I was thinking "others" from the standpoint of Turkey, which be us lol, but I see what you mean and what she means. Though I believe I have heard of Russia doing this actually to quite a bit of other European nations actually, and even some Asian ones too.

Now I understand this is nothing new, and in fact is not as drastic as the legendary Cold War era before my living memory. Nevertheless this brinksmanship stuff whether buzzing airspace or shooting planes down is no good because beforehand there was the notion that neither side wants to go over the brink in reality. In this century there's a lot of factions that want to tackle each other screaming off the cliff. Both sides need to back-off a bit and step away from the ledge.

I can see your point. Ivan still routinely pokes our airspace with Bear bombers.

Some things just don't change. Including America's benevolent levels of patience.

you missed all the fun, all the duck and cover drills in school. then having someone like me in class scaring the rest of the kids telling everyone the truth that if a nuke went off anywhere close we all going to die, ether being vaporized quick death or a very slow horrid painful death of radiation poisoning.

yeah I was a decently smart kid

You're mean but funny dude. :)

You should have shown them Zechariah 14:12 as proof.

Zechariah 14:12 And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth.

Blatantly that refers to the effects of a nuclear bomb.

Leaving nothing but a scorched bony skeleton.

This is cool. It shows how Russia/Syria are monitoring with drones the Turkish border for Turkish trucks supplying Al-Queda in Syria. They've been destroying a lot of them.

Wait, you're less than a decade older than me and you experienced duck and cover drills?

Wow. I really didn't miss the fun by very much, did I?

yep, where I lived was heavy manufacturing and a known nuclear target. last one I remember was in about 89. not like it would have done any good if nuclear war did happen, we would have been dead. duck and cover or not. ether vaporized or rad sickness... think id rather just be vaporized.
