Spelfout nekt Mexicaanse criminelen | NOS

In the Mexican state of Michoacan , four criminals got caught by a misspelling. They drove around in a fake police car which looked exactly like a real one. There was only one difference : the spelling of a word on the side of the car.

The gang members had the word " division" written with a c instead of an s. This aroused suspicion at a military patrol that drove past. The soldiers stopped the car and grabbed the men .

The four men are members of a drug cartel. The State Secretary of Public Security says the cartels have owned more fake police cars. It has announced an operation in order to detect them .

For the record, there are 30 states in Mexico. Regardless of that, the State Secretary of Public Security is a Federal cabinet level position. The closest comparable position here in the US would be Secretary of Justice.

Well they shouldn't had told them how they had drawn suspicion of them. But now they are going to correct the problem making it more hard to catch them.

In the land of the blind the one eyed jack is king.

Be careful as the evil spell check will make you lazy.

Glad the police could spell. It is often hard to catch spelling errors when you are familiar with the word being presented.

This is only Wikipedia, but it does suggest it is worth looking into.

Michoacán, formally Michoacán de Ocampo, officially Free and Sovereign State of Michoacán de Ocampo, is one of the 31 states which, with the Federal District, comprise the 32 Federal Entities of Mexico. Wikipedia

I don't knock language transfer errors. I attempt to speak 3 languages besides English, and I make mistakes in all 5. (LOL) Nor do I make a big deal out of typos. However, I do find it pretty inexcusable for an adult not to have at least a reasonable command of their own native tongue.

I usually don't say anything, but you can be sure I can't help noticing. When I was hiring for my companies, hundreds of applications just hit the trash can because the applicant didn't make the effort to assure a properly written submittal.

I even sometimes notice it now in English. In Dutch I immediately notice, since my dad was a teacher and a grammar nazi. He'd correct even the guy from the grocery store lol.

Did he get to see the Grampian?
The Grampian region of Scotland, home to the bustling city of Aberdeen, boasts a vibrant nightlife, Queen Mother Rose Garden, the Malt Whisky Trail and the Castle Trail.
