I remember a girlfriend taking me to see Purple Rain. He was quite popular. I obsessed on music growing up, especially alternative music and post-punk, new wave, and 80's and 90's alt-rock. But I never understood the music of Prince. Never cared for it or for him. He reminds me of David Bowie, who's music I enjoyed, and Freddie Mercury, who's music I also enjoyed. They didn't feel comfortable telling people about their sexual preference, despite knowing they would sell millions of records even if they did discuss homosexual lifestyles. I doubt he spent much time in local Kingdom Halls, either. I don't recall the final days of Freddie Mercury, if they were similar to Prince. His "flu-like" symptoms may be a result of his immune system shutting down.
I often watch "The Five" in the afternoons, on Fox. Today, they covered the Prince death. Greg Gutfeld was not on the show today and someone else sat in for him. I know the music Greg likes and I would bet he refused to be on the show today unless they allowed him to say he was not a fan of Prince. The five people who were there, all said very positive things about Prince and his music. Sort of how people spoke well of Michael Jackson when he died. The usual God Bless him and the band in heaven just got better sort of comments from unbelievers who feel God's standard for heaven is how well you sing or play guitar.
