PCUSA Assembly Lifts Up Muslim Prayers to Allah – Polemics Report

"The General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (USA) offered prayers to the Islamic deity, Allah. The prayer was led by a representative of the Muslim community on behalf of the Presbyterian Assembly. The representative, Wallid Said, prayed…

“Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord. Lead us on the straight path – the path of all the prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad.”
The Islamic prayer was the the first order of business for the assembly. The prayer was arranged by the Ecumenical and Interfaith ministry staff for the PCUSA. They apparently got what the asked for. The full transcript is as follows:
“Allah bless us and bless our families and bless our Lord. Lead us on the straight path – the path of all the prophets: Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Moses, Jesus and Muhammad. Peace be upon them all Amen.
“In the name of Allah, the beneficent, the merciful, let us praise the Lord. The creator of the universe, the most merciful, the most compassionate and the Lord of the universe who has created us and made us into nations and tribes, from male and females that we may know each other, not that we might despise each other, or may despise each other. Incline towards peace and justice and trust in God, for the Lord is one that hears and knows everything and the servants of God, the most compassionate, the most merciful, gracious are those who walk in the earth in humility and when bigots and hateful and Islamaphobes address them, they say peace. Peace be upon them and peace be upon Allah.”

(You can see the prayer at the 14 minute mark on the video).

The clerk of the general assembly apologized later in the day, having heard that “some” were offended by the prayer. He apologized, stating that it was not their goal to offend anyone.
Whether the clerk offered a private apology to God for offending Him with the stench of unjustifiable blasphemy is unknown, but no public apology to the Almighty was made."

This is the fruit of those who turn their back on God's Word!

Did everyone go to dumb college and get to be valedictorian? Sort of makes sense with our everyone gets a participation prize culture.

True it is not a shocker, but just how far can an apostate church body go?

Maybe not all of the people attending approved of the prayer either?

Why was a Muslim at the assembly to begin with?

Oh how true. Thankfully, the Lord will have his say after their season of wickedness.

that's the problem right there, ain't it?

once you get to 'not their goal to offend anyone'....

God Truth and God's Gospel are an offense.

My father and grandfather, Presbyterian ministers when it was the "United Presbyterian Church", must both be rolling in their graves.

Imagine Jesus using the PC lingo of today on the establishment of His day?
In His sermons, interactions with the money changers, with Satan...
Safe to say that many of us might not have the conviction in the word that we do?

Mainly those who don't give a hoot to doctrine. This slide has been going on a long time.

That plus the PC junk that was pushed down everyones throats has now become its own religion. And this is what comes of preaching that PC gospel. Absolutely ridiculous.

I wonder how the 'orthodox' Islamists are taking this? Is this an equal slide from the other side into one big religious mush?

While I agree it is insanity to pray to the satanic god of islam if just one of the lost muslims come to Christ and is saved I think it's great. I do not in any way, shape or form condone allowing satanic prayers in church, just saying that even through this idiotic behavior God can still work out someone's salvation.

That's a common argument for ecumenicalism.
If a Muslim somehow comes to faith. it will be in spite of it and not because of it.

A muslim coming to the truth is no different than any other lost person doing so, God says He wants all to be saved.
