It saddens me that no one has responded to this conversation starter. We talk a lot about how BlueLM and some about how BlackLM, and most of these convos are one sided - meaning as while people we have NO idea what it is like to be black and we are quick to say 'if you'll just comply' you won't get killed. Well, yes, we all should comply, but there is more going on here. If we aren't careful, fewer and fewer qualified men and women will apply to be police officers and then we will ALL be in trouble.

We have to figure this out. Both sides have to own up and take responsibility for their actions. Actions that are good and bad. We have to come together and stop this nonsense. These kinds of activities, the random hugs between police people and civilians are part of the coming together. We need real honest talks. For EVERYONE's sake, we have to stop being thugs and stop over reacting to perps and potential perps.

i think the most important thing about this is that -ordinary americans- are leading the charge...

our 'leaders'...-on both sides-...are busy working to make sure a crisis doesn't go to waste...

we need to -start tuning out- our so called 'leaders' who are only working to divide and conquer us...and start -tuning in- to our loving God...

You have a point. I did not look at this thread because, quite frankly, I thought, nice enough, but it is not going to change anything in the big picture. A lot of this has been going on for so long, and it is embedded.
But we do have to start somewhere, and as Christians we are called to be optimists, not cynics.

personally i feel that things like this are the -only- way anything in the big picture is going to change...

the change that is needed is just not going to come from washington...it is going to come from ordinary people like bohannon...

and i believe that as christians holding the message of God's love...we have a special responsibility in working towards racial healing in our country...

i didn't want to clutter up the forum by starting a new thread so i will just put this here...

the number of police officer applications in dallas has increased by 450%...this was shortly after they actually had to stop providing special training for new police officers because there weren't enough new officers to fill the classes...

i have no idea what the demographics of the applicants are...but the dallas police chief did invite 'black lives matter' activists to get out of the protest line and make a job application to the department...

if that is what happened then this can only be a good thing...
