As in legalize it for medical use, or in general?

Marijuana is definitely not a good thing, it causes lots and lots of negative long term effects
.... but there are many other medicines that do that as well, which are already legal, and which people abuse.
In Nevada we are voting whether or not to make the recreational use of marijuana legal. I think some other states are voting on the same thing. I believe the states of Colorado, Oregon, and Washington have already legalized the recreational use of marijuana.

Theoretically if we were to end this fraudulent or on drugs then we could allocate this money to helping the addicts.
Theoretically we could end enforcement of our murder laws and use the money to help murderers. I don't think it's a good idea, though.

I just Googled it. Alcohol kills 2.5 million people per year worldwide. Marijuana ...0
I used to smoke weed in my younger days but when I got older I just lost interest in it. One less thing to spend money on

That was a very convincing "smoke screen".
Let's look at what he DIDN'T say:
1. Smoking cigarettes is dangerous

  • because of poisonous chemicals in the tobacco
  • because it has addictive chemicals in it
2. Pot isn't addictive
3. Pot doesn't contain nearly the poisonous chemicals in it
4. medicinal value was never mentioned
5. categorizing the two together is like we can put fire & ice together. The ONLY thing they have in common is that both are smoked. And, who can honestly leave out that pot can be ingested? Brownies come to mind.
I could go on & on, but to sum it all up, this video was slanted & one-sided.

Let me explain why that's not a valid comparison.
It cost 3 times more to keep a drug addict in jail then it does to send him to rehab. The prison industrial complex is making money by locking people up. It's a scam. Meanwhile they cost taxpayers billions.

Has anyone considered the psychological effects of legalizing pot?
We all know kids will try anything because it's "restricted" from them. They do things because they have to prove they're "bad" to their classmates. That's why drinking is so high on their chemical of choice. They "have to" go to the party & drink some beer to prove they're cool.

Make pot "common" by legalizing it, & it will come off their "big man" list.

I'm in favor of "decriminalization" myself, which is mediating between resurrection's and Dude's positions.

Marijuana would still be technically illegal, but the penalties would be reduced. Its use would be treated more like a vehicle violation.

Not only that, but it would reduce the incarceration rate for offenders. I'm not a "bleeding-heart", but I do believe in limited government and I feel there should be fewer laws and fewer ways to put people behind bars.

Hard prison time should be reserved for things such as drug trafficking, sex trafficking, arson, rape, murder, aggravated sexual assault, robbery, burglary, etc.

The major flaw in our justice system (and this goes well beyond drugs) is that people either get slapped on the wrists, or they get their entire arms chopped off (figuratively). Hardly any in-betweens

Now with all that said, I don't care to use marijuana due to my personal convictions. If I went against my own conscience, I would be sinning.

Let's make everything illegal legal and no one suffers consequences. Since pot is a good money maker let's tax murder and everything else. We are already on a moral decline. Let's go all the way there.

Sometimes it pays to listen to people who are older and wiser than you.

You seem to think drug users don't make those around them miserable.

Perhaps by the time you are my age, you'll have had the opportunity to find out what it is like to have neighbors who use drugs.

I kind of agree with Notme. Yes, our justice system is flawed, but we wont fix that be legalizing things that are illegal for a good reason.

Making something legal does not make it right. I point to abortion. Legal but not right in the sight of God.

Pot may be useful in a medical application. For recreation I find it not wise. Booze is legal and it is abused so that it costs lives and happiness everyday.

Were it not for sin I would not need pain relief. Were it not for sin there would be no consequence in booze or pot.

For the cause of Christ

In America there are approximately 10000 deaths annually related to alcohol. There has never been a single reported death related to marijuana
This is not true....The State of Colorado has reported deaths and homicides relating to marijuana are up almost 200% since they legalized recreation use of the drug...

My Brother still lives there and there is not a day that goes buy that local news is reporting about how another pot dispensary was broken into and everyone inside were killed....execution style...

Pot is also a gateway drug to worse drugs...

Legalize It and tax it just like alcohol and cigarettes. Colorado has done this and they have made a ton of money which has gone into infrastructure, schools and so forth
I was born in Denver and lived there from 1993 until 2008....We go back to see family 4-6 times a year now...

Funny thing about the money....nobody kind find it...and not any of it has ever gone to the schools, infrastructure and so forth...that is because when they passed the lottery and gambling back in 1991, they said that the fees collected for lotto tickets and gaming licenses would be used for schools, infrastructure and so forth and no other source of SIN tax could towards those issues without outlawing gaming/lotto...The same out of state folks that wrote that ballot initiative, also wrote the rec use of Pot initiative....Denver is becoming the new Southern California and when Cali eventually declares Bankruptcy....Denver will be the new LA....

....the 7 county metroplex of Denver is so overcrowded now, that homelessness is now a very big problem. People are living in hotels , they cannot get enough housing built....we have gone to grocery stores and were checked out by people under the influence...

For every Pot dispensary built, a new liquor store, strip club, sex toy shop, or XXX arcade opens up.....illegal prostitution is up nearly 1000% in the state....The black market POT growers and dealers are putting legal pot operations into bankruptcy....

Your harmless drug is a gateway to the spirit of witchcraft.....

Only I didn't say that. In states where it's legalized it's regulated just like alcohol. You have to be 21 to purchase it. I'm not advocating that anyone uses it, I just don't think it should be illegal
Wrong, the legal age to buy POT in Colorado is 18...they did this to avoid law suits, since you can smoke or vape at 18......

Its illegal to smoke a tobacco inside any movie theater, restaurant, bar or casino in Colorado, but they will let you smoke weed in these places...

Alcohol kills more people than weed kills no one (depending on someones perspective). I find it hypocritical how weed can be illegal but Alcohol isn't. Not saying both should be legal and that people should do both but it's interesting.
its all propaganda from people that want it legalized...As a former cop, I have seen domestic violence occur from people under the influence of alcohol and drugs and those only "stoned" on mary jane.....it's a lie...

I think it ought to be legalized for many reasons:
  1. It will stop the "lacing" of it because the FDA will regulate it. People are gonna smoke it anyway, this would keep them from being poisoned.
  2. Taxation will help the economy.
  3. Would legalize hemp production, which will produce jobs & help farmers.
  4. It will put small-time drug dealers outta business.
  5. It would help cancer patients by lowering the price of medical pot.
  6. Since it would destroy small-time drug dealing & be legal to smoke, Jails & prisons would be less crowded & save govt's on operation costs.

But..... I think it won't pass because:

  1. Industrial cotton companies got it outlawed in the first place, because hemp is a stronger plant, is easier to grow, grows fast, & requires little tending, & lasts longer than cotton. This is proven by the fact in WWII, hemp production was legalized temporarily to produce rope for the Navy.
  2. Pot would bring competition to tobacco & cotton industries, so their lobbyists would pay legislators off to keep it banned.
  3. Since pot has a calming effect, pharmaceutical companies would lobby to keep it banned because it would compete with the majority of anxiety & low-end depression drugs.

I wish it would be legalized, but it won't. If Big Business has it banned in 3rd world countries, they will keep it banned here.
...several sates have legalized the recreation use of POT....
