For those of you whose states are voting whether or not to legalize recreational marijuana, I hope you vote no.

I don't know what the correct answer is, but one thing I do know is that drug related crime is keeping a significant part of law enforcement occupied at all times.

Greetings all!

Here is some information that some may know, but many do not know:

"Outside are the dogs, those who practice magic arts, the sexually immoral, the murderers, the idolaters and everyone who loves and practices falsehood."

"The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts."

The words translated "magic arts" above, are translated from the word "pharmakeia/pharmakos" which is where we get our English word Pharmaceutical from. Drugs were/are used in relation to incantations and casting spells. Today people are still using drugs for incantations and casting spells, but people are also using drugs for recreational purposes, which still falls under the banner of sorcery, magic arts. Therefore, many people who use Marijuana, methamphetamine's, cocaine, Heroin, etc, are guilty of practicing magic arts, without even realizing it. I believe that this is what is being referred to in the scriptures above, as well as those who are actually practicing magic arts with the rest of its characteristics. Below is the definition forpharmakeia and pharmakos:

=============================================================
Cognate: 5333 phármakos – properly, a sorcerer; used of people using drugs and "religious incantations" to drug people into living by their illusions – like having magical (supernatural) powers to manipulate God into giving them more temporal possessions.

5331 pharmakeía (from pharmakeuō, "administer drugs") – properly, drug-related sorcery, like the practice of magical-arts, etc.

Word Origin
from pharmakeuó (to administer drugs)

Definition
the use of medicine, drugs or spells

NASB Translation
sorceries (1), sorcery (2).

There's really no logical reason for it to be illegal.

in Portugal they legalised drugs and the addiction rate and crime is down. Trouble is cos something works in 1 country doesn't mean it will in another, plus facts like money put aside to help addicts is often left out.
But i do think its a shame that a youth may receive a criminal record for smoking a joint, as a stupid teenager, and that record affects the rest of their life.

Hello Dude653,

From God's point of view, see post #6.
Then we would need to outlaw alcohol as well since it is far more dangerous than weed can ever be. It cost more money than it's worth to put people in jail for a relatively harmless drug

Yes weed should be legal ... not sure why the original poster say to vote no but provides no reasons as to why

In America there are approximately 10000 deaths annually related to alcohol. There has never been a single reported death related to marijuana

The answer is no,vote no.

1 Corinthians 10:31 Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.
Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.

1 Corinthians 6:12 All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me,
but I will not be brought under the power of any.

Proverbs 23:31-35 Do not look on the wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly. Afterward it bites like a snake, and stings like a viper. Your eyes will see strange things, and your mind will speak perverse things. And you will be like one who lies down in the midst of the sea, and like one who lies down on the top of the rigging.
You will say, “They have struck me, but I am not harmed! They beat me, but I did not know it! When will I awake? I will look for another drink.”

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.

The scriptures in Corinthians are not an argument for illegalization. It just means that just because something is are we going to Outlaw everything the Bible says is bad? legal then that doesn't necessarily mean you should do it.

Most of their constituents probably could not afford this product if it were legalized. Those that really want to toke may need a subsidy from the Dept. of Agriculture.

Legalize It and tax it just like alcohol and cigarettes. Colorado has done this and they have made a ton of money which has gone into infrastructure, schools and so forth

Uh, many deaths have been related to weed smoking. Especially today. "Straight cut" or "Pure" marijuana is hard to come by, because the dealers mix it with all sorts of things, making it 10x as harmful. You don't even know what is going into your lungs. Not only that, it is a gateway drug. 90% of people who are addicted to marijuana are also addicted to hard drugs. Heroin, LSD, PCP, Methamphetamine, the list goes on. Drugs will kill you, or give you one heck of a ride if they don't. God gave you a head for a reason. Don't fry it with drugs or alcohol, and don't let anyone else do that either. We are Christians. We are held to a higher standard. We have to represent that all the time, 24/7 365.

The War on Drugs is all an illusion. How do you think the drugs are getting in? The average American does not own any planes or boats. The prison industrial complex is a huge money-making industry. There is money to be made for locking people up. Something is wrong with this country when you can get more time for drugs and you get for killing someone or for rape

I've always said this, it makes no sense why one will be legal and the other wouldn't
