Leaving Clinton out of it, I agree that fake news should be dealt with.
Im not talking about real news which people don't want to get out, that
would be censorship.

Im talking of news which is deliberately made up to look as if it is real. Usually it gets
posted on social media sites face book etc. Also some newspapers don't seem to have
any morals in this respect.

Most fake news is eventually exposed but in the meantime it can cause a lot of
damage.

Im surprised there are not more legal cases and law suits over it. I suppose this will
be the next step.
Here's the problem with that. American newspapers were created to mudsling. I don't mean they are doing that now, (although they are), I'm genuinely saying the first American newspaper, and then every newspaper after it until 1945 were started to sling mud at, lie about, spread hatred to an opponent of whoever that paper wanted to get into political office.

From 1945- February 27, 1968, they actually went unbiased.

On that date, Walter Cronkite opined about the Vietnam war and the gloves were off again.

So, in the case of the US, fake stories are protected by the First Amendment too.

The best thing that can happen is for her to be censored, arrested and jailed.......talk about the proverbial pot calling the kettle black..........

Well if someone made up an article that your house was being used as a drug den,
you would know that was fake, so would the news writer. Two people know it's fake
and the truth would come out but in the meantime you could find yourself in
prison and homeless.

In the meantime a real story about a drug den might not get printed or would
be ignored. It's like the boy who cried wolf.

Fake news causes real problems.
Correct, fake news causes real problems.

But we already have laws to deal with this... libel, slander, defamation of character etc. etc.

Do we really want to give the government more power to censor our news?

Do we trust the government?

Does the government ever lie?

Does the government ever lie about NEWS?

U.S. Govt Repeals Propaganda Ban, Makes it Legal for Govt to Spread Fake News.
A couple of years ago, the U.S. Congress passed a law to allow OUR GOVERNMENT to disseminate PROPAGANDA (fake news) to our own citizens.
U.S. Repeals Propaganda Ban, Spreads Government-Made News to Americans | Foreign Policy
- For many years it was illegal for our government to officially, and intentionally disseminate lies... fake news.
- A couple years ago that law was changed

The LAST ENTITY I want censoring my news is the GOVERNMENT.
- I love my country.
- But... they've passed some crazy laws, and they do some crazy things.
- I mean... they passed a special law just so it would be LEGAL to LIE to us.

You just can't make this stuff up.

You really can't make this stuff up.

That isn't what's going on here.
The politicians are using this 'fake news' lie as a way to make legislation so they can further manipulate what we know about them.
