Let's see here, Social Security will be insolvent by the time many of us reach retirement age. Lucky for you (assuming your profile age is correct), you will most likely be dead before that time.

We have two choices to keep SS solvent, either raise the SS tax or cut the amount of benefits.

You are right about me. I'll probably be gone by the time that the fund runs out of money, but I have children and grand children who have paid into the fund, and will depend, at least in part, on it. It needs to be fixed. A simple fix would be a combination of means testing and increasing the limit on the income amount that it is paid on.

What I find sad is the number of young people will depend heavily or exclusively on Social Security. I looked at my own children's retirement funds and they are less than half of what mine were at the same time in my life. I'm hopeful that things will improve with our economy.

This bill was introduced by one GOP congressman, not by the GOP.
This will never pass because it would be political suicide for everyone who voted for it, and you do know with congress it is always about the next election.
