In a frightening new development, the Russian hackers believed to have interfered in the 2016 presidential election also reportedly penetrated a Vermont utility.
A code used by the hackers, dubbed Grizzly Steppe by the Obama administration, has been detected within the electrical system, the Washington Post said Friday.
Although the code allowed the Russians to penetrate the system, they did not disrupt operations of the utility, the paper said.
The utility learned it had been infiltrated when feds shared the malware code with power companies across the country.
