When I run errands, I listen to Christian radio. A few days ago I was listening to Chris Fabry and he was speaking about a commitment he made four years ago when Obama was re-elected.

I was touched by his humility and his desire to be pleasing to the Lord with his actions, his thoughts and his words.

So I researched to see if I might be able to find what he said on the internet and I found his commitment on his blog.

I thought we could all here do the same for those who like or don't like trump. What do you think? Is he correct in what he said? Is it something we should do? Why or why not?

Chris Fabry's Oath of Office
Will you respect the office of the President and the man who is charged by our country and by God to lead us?

Will you pray for this man and daily ask God not only for protection, but also for wisdom to lead our free nation?

Will you commit to repent of pre-judging him on things you've heard, on rumors you've been sent by email?

Will you pray for his wife in her new role? For his daughters who will be in the spotlight like never before?

Will you give him an opportunity to make decisions without vilifying him personally?

And when you disagree with a policy, when you believe he is going the wrong direction, will you speak the truth in love, will you be unlike those who have taken the opportunity to tear President Bush down at seemingly every turn?

To support, means to love. And agreeing with everything a person says when they are wrong is not loving. But to disagree in a way that shows dignity to that other person, while at the same time pointing out the truth, is what support means

Man I have to admit that's pretty good:) Jesus said to pray for our enemies and while I don't trust trump I do think we we should pray for him

Hi Blain,

I thought so too! I'm going to take each oath listed and apply it to President Trump, beginning with calling him President Trump and not just Trump. He deserves honor and respect even if we don't think he does. Just the fact that he's our president deserves honor and respect.

I agree, no matter how we feel we need to pray, stay positive and
remember that we're submitting to God and trusting God to work through President Trump and what He might do through him to better the country as a whole and not focus on what he'll do for me personally. We need to see ourselves as a nation - we think too individualistically.

I read a powerful prayer in God's word and thought it's a good one to post here if we ever feel hopeless during President Trump's reign.

“My heart exults in the Lord;
my horn is exalted in the Lord.
My mouth derides my enemies,
because I rejoice in your salvation.

“There is none holy like the Lord:
for there is none besides you;
there is no rock like our God.
Talk no more so very proudly,
let not arrogance come from your mouth;
for the Lord is a God of knowledge,
and by him actions are weighed.
The bows of the mighty are broken,
but the feeble bind on strength.
Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread,
but those who were hungry have ceased to hunger.
The barren has borne seven,
but she who has many children is forlorn.
The Lord kills and brings to life;
he brings down to Sheol and raises up.
The Lord makes poor and makes rich;
he brings low and he exalts.
He raises up the poor from the dust;
he lifts the needy from the ash heap
to make them sit with princes
and inherit a seat of honor.
For the pillars of the earth are the Lord's,
and on them he has set the world.

“He will guard the feet of his faithful ones,
but the wicked shall be cut off in darkness,
for not by might shall a man prevail.
The adversaries of the Lord shall be broken to pieces;
against them he will thunder in heaven.
The Lord will judge the ends of the earth;
he will give strength to his king
and exalt the horn of his anointed.”

Sad thing is..........Obama supporters will insist we give him the considerations mentioned.........and his detractors will not.

Trump supporters will insist we give him the considerations mentioned........and his detractors will not.

Haters gonna hate........and both sides have their haters

When it comes to Political matters, in my opinion, more than a few Christians only extend Christian love and values to those they support.........and more than a few Christians set aside their own Christian values/principles for Political gain...

As much as I did not appreciate what BHO did while in office I could only ask God to forgive us for bringing this judgment upon ourselves. I would love to see BHO and his family come to a saving knowledge of Christ and make a public statement to that effect.

I pray that our new POTUS will come to a genuine saving knowledge of Jesus Christ as well.

We can only judge what each man will do after it has been done. One has ended his opportunity and the new one has just begun. I pray that God will direct the new POTUS and be glorified in what he does in the office.

My hope is not in man but in God. I do not think we are out of the woods by any measure. A new coat of paint may make us look good on the outside but we have a great disease in our core. The pulpits in this country are not on fire for God and the morality of the people is not Godly.

So true p_rehbein,

But what does the article say to you as a person. Not those other folks you mentioned which you stated so accurately, just you. What does it say to you? Do you agree with what Chris Fabry listed as things we as Christians need to do?

So the question is will you?

Hi Roger,

Yes, we aren't in a good way for sure. That's why so many are putting their hopes on Donald Trump.

I don't know that it's our fault that former president Barak Obama became our president and was the result of judgment being brought upon us. Can you expand your view on that? I hear many say that, but I haven't heard them explain whey they say it. Is it an active in the present day type judgement or is it the results of bad actions causing bad consequences?

I'm sure many Christians pray for the same thing for each new POTUS, that they come to know the one and only true God through Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior. It's probably one of the first things that we do. :)

My hope is in God as well and I want to keep my trust there.

I was touched by Chris Fabry's article. Personally I don't think the Lord wants us to take oaths like he wrote (let your yay be yay and your nay be nay), but I'm looking beyond the oaths and what he;s listed as things to do for our president that are probably the best things we can do instead of ripping him to pieces for what he does or doesn't do that we thought he should or shouldn't do. It's kind of a preparation for the next four-year ride that's just begun.

The last President I was actually in favor of was "W's" first term.........I am neither Democrat or Republican......I did not support Trump or Clinton.........nor did I support Obama.

When any of them do something I think is credible and good for the Country/Citizens, I have no problem saying so.....even when others will take the opportunity to call me all sorts of things........However, when one of the does something I believe to be dangerous for the Country/People, I have no problem being criticle of them....even when others will take that opportunity to call me all sorts of things.

I have always approached Politics with the desire to be fair in my critique of the President, and/or Congress. Now, for quite a few years, it has been difficult to find "positive" things to report on, and that tends to make me look "bias or partisan" when I report on the "negatives." If the only thing to report on is "negative," well............. :)

I will do with Trump what I have done with Obama for the last 8 years. Listen to his promises, critique his Agenda, and see what he ACTUALLY DOES, not what he says. Obama earned the nick-name Campaigner in Chief because, for 8 years, he always seemed to be campaigning rather than Governing. And I was critical of him for that. Sadly, the first few days, Trump seems to STILL be in Campaign mode, and has not yet shifted gears into Governing mode. To be fair, it has only been a few days, so I will watch and see, and hope that he dispenses with all the Campaign rhetoric and begins to act like a President, and Govern our Country.

Signing a couple of Presidential Orders is not Governing.......Obama did that much.......Trump needs to set aside the rhetoric of the Campaign trail, and begin to establish his plans to achieve his Agenda. To work with Congress, and peoples in the Private Sector (when necessary) to put in place the Policies he believes will address the issues facing our Country.

If he does well on something, I will give him credit, however, if he fails to deliver on something, or changes horses in mid stream on an issue, I will report on that as well. What you have to understand is, I could write a 10 page/single spaced Dissertation on all things Trump, with 9 and 1/2 of those pages complimenting him........and with a single Paragraph pointing out a failure............and WHAT WILL BE JUMPED ON HERE and I will be attacked for will be that one Paragraph!

That is the way it is here with some folks. I have one firm view.............it is the "HIT'S Pledge. Honesty, Integrity, Truth in Service.............I believe all Politicians should be held accountable to this Pledge.

Anyway.......just pay attention to the various Threads that follow Trump's Presidency............you will see what I am saying is true.

So true p_rehbein,
