TRUMP'S FIRST 100 DAYS

Trump: I’m cutting 75% of regulations, maybe more!

By Daniel Halper

January 23, 2017 | 10:41am | Updated

President Trump told business leaders Monday that he’s going to be cutting regulations “massively” — by 75 percent and “maybe more.”
“We are going to be cutting taxes massively for both the middle class and for companies. And that’s massively. We’re trying to get it down to anywhere from 15 to 20 percent,” Trump said at the White house meeting.

“A bigger thing, and that surprised me, is the fact that we are going to be cutting regulation massively. Now we are going to have regulation and it will be just as strong and just as good and just as protective of the people as the regulation we have right now. The problem with the regulation you have right now is that you can’t do anything,” he added.
Trump boldly claimed, “We think we can cut regulations by 75 percent. Maybe more.”
At that point, he reached over to shake the hand of Michael Dell of Dell Technologies.
“Or when Dell wants to come in and do something monstrous and special, you are going to have your approvals really fast,” the president said.
But he added a warning. U.S. companies that go abroad would pay a heavy price. “If that happens, we are going to be imposing a very major border tax on the products when it comes in.”

Trump called the meeting with business leaders his “first official meeting.”
Aside from Dell, executives from Whirlpool, Ford, Johnson & Johnson, Lockheed Martin, Arconic, Dow Chemical, US Steel, SpaceX, Under Armour, International Paper and Corning attended the meeting.

Here are my comments and questions.
I am a former business owner. I know others here are, notably, Willie T.

I read this article and watched the video and I am over joyed if this comes to pass.

My question's re these, if Trump accomplish's this, does it hurt the world economy?
Does it just stall what is already well on it's way, and what is maybe inevitable? A world economy.

These are all measures I have been talking about for since the beginning of this century.
I closed my scrap business down on 2010 for many reasons. One of them though was my total and utter disgust and frustration with the local, state, and federal government.

I do have some issues.

Trump speaks of those companies that are going to fire workers here, and move overseas. Well, that is all well and good, but what of USA countries already established overseas? Are they going to still be allowed to import products, the prices of which, undercut what we can make the same product for here?

Hopefully people can get jobs and we'll have them off the streets.

I know. I thought about that too. He did not address that. These companies have made Uuge (I dropped the h in huge on purpose) investments over seas. They can't be expected to close them. We will just have to wait and see how that aspect plays out.

I do understand the manufacturing of things overseas in areas like quality textiles. There honestly are only about 3% of the good textile producing companies (not "selling" companies) who reside here. But what of so many other areas where it is absolutely impossible for us to compete with foreign-produced products?

We have to simply wait and see what is DONE verses what is PROMISED...........the "devil" is in the details! :)

Congress will have to play a huge role in all of this..........and that will be his biggest challenge in my opinion.....getting Congress on board.......

I wonder what the effect on the environment and the US natural resources will be from this presidency.

I suspect we'll see the rampant slaughter of many sacred cows.

A question to consider I suppose..........but I often wonder why those here in America so concerned with our "environment" and the effect increasing production of our Natural Resources would have.........DO NOT CARE ONE WHIT........the effect of producing those resources has on the environments of other Countries we import said resources from?

I guess OUR environment is far more valuable than that of the Middle East Nations, Mexico, Canada, South American Nations and such...........well............ok? :)

I wonder what the effect on the environment and the US natural resources will be from this presidency.
