Denny Burk, professor of Biblical Studies at Boyce College, explained why he won’t be letting his children see “Beauty and the Beast”:
“I am not going to let a movie studio communicate to my children that sexual immorality is ‘normal and natural.'”


Do you think this is an overreaction. Some Christians are all in for a full boycott, while a friend who is christian said there is gay characters everywhere on TV and sometime they act as cry babies.

I don't blame them for boycotting. For decades now disney has been putting sexual subliminal messages & imagery in their films. Parents should try their best to not to expose their children to those things. The things that children are conditioned to accept at an early age continues as they mature into adults. Beauty & the beast also promotes beastiaity. Which has grown alot since the original film was released.

i think there over reacting. I mean, I dont agree with gayness but to boycott a movie because of One gay charector is just a bit to much. Being gay is wrong, yes, but I dont think that kids would take influence over one disney movie. But thats just my opinion...

This is a childrens movie. I think that's why people are taking a stronger stance than, say, prime time tv shows. This isn't just another movie, but one aimed at children. So i don't see it as an overreaction.

And, really, the more we expose ourselves, and allow our children to be exposed, to any sin, the more commonplace it becomes. It used to be culturally negative to have sex before marriage, and if you did you definitely hid it from most people. But sex became more casual. Started showing up in movies more and more. Jump ahead and now it's Expected that young teens will be, and are, having sex. Porn addiction is an all time high. Mainstream music is an exercise in sexuality and parents buy it for their kids. Even in the church sex has became much more common and accepted.
Now many Christians will watch movies with all sorts of various sins because we are used to it. Homosexuality is one of the last sins for culture and Christians to be brought to as a mainstream thing. Where once people would forbid children to watch movies with too much cussing or nudity or sex, now parents drop them off at theaters to see the same thing.
People are resisting the normalization of sin. I don't quite understand how any Christian can say it's wrong to resist that, unless you have already become so accustomed to it you don't care anymore yourself.

Friends, today if it comes out of the movie or TV industry, it has an openly Gay slant.

It's time to put down the electronic toys, throw away the smartphones, turn off the TV, forgo the movies, and take the kids out and show them the real beauty of God's world.

I remember I was 10 years old reading about how Lot's daughter's got their father drunk and raped him, each getting pregnant. Granted, the bible is the word of God, I often question if I was too young to read about that. My parents bought me a bible with my name inscribed in it, they were a bit shocked I actually read it I guess... I started asking questions about it.

Now, I know this is a Disney movie, and I believe if a parent feels convicted to boycott it, it is their duty to act on that conviction. I feel it's the parents responsibility to teach their children that homosexuality is an abomination to the Lord. If we do this, then when we send our children out in the real world, they will be better equipped to deal with the issues of today. Homosexuality is a major issue of today. Rather than try to keep our children in a protective bubble, we should teach our children so when/if this subject comes up later in life (by accident or knowingly), the "gay tolerance" will be like water off a duck's back. Of course, it would greatly depend on the child's mental maturity.

My sister has two young boys and called to ask my opinion since she and her husband were having a disagreement over it.He wanted to boycott it,she wasn't sure.I told her that she should preview the movie herself so she would know what was in the movie.The director of the movie is gay and has said there is a gay moment in the film. I did not see Disney make a comment on it,unless they have recently. I went to the Disney FB page and they are getting hammered. Disney will follow the money if enough parents stay away or speak up about it.

Need to boycott NCIS, NCIS New Orleans......both have/do now feature gay characters. As do just about every other TV Show these days. I have also noticed that Commercials are more and more featuring gay couples.......some are done so in a subtle way, but they are still there. Movies have featured homosexuality for decades.

The danger isn't because of ONE movie/TV show, the danger is in the incessant presentation of homosexuality as "normal."

I was just discussing this the other day with a friend. They asked me if I thought homosexuals were born that way, or was it a lifestyle choice? I told them to ask a homosexual. See, this question is asked in order to condemn the person answering. In fact, every gay person in the world should be offended by the question. Why? Because, IF they are "born that way," this infers that they are "freaks of nature." IF it is a "lifestyle choice," this infers that they are "reprobates." Either way, they should be/will be offended.

What no one acknowledges, or realizes is that the evidence that homosexuality is against nature is proven by the fact that homosexuality HAS TO BE JUSTIFIED. Hetrosexuality does not have to be justified, for it is the "natural" order of things. If people have to try and find a way to justify something as "normal" or "acceptable," then there must be something wrong with it to begin with right?

Hope I explained this in a way folks can understand............easier to do verbally than with the typed word.

In the specific instance that you cited, since both cannot agree, IMHO, the husband's decision should be followed.

Well the issue is her husband is known for boycotting something,changing his mind and not boycotting,then boycotting again.So this is confusing for the boys. My advice was for her to watch the movie and for them to make a decision and tell the boys why they are not supporting the movie. They were going to Disney for spring break and he told the kids they'd never be going again,they had gone once. The youngest was upset and crying. Inconsistent parenting does more harm than good. Going off half cocked and banning everything isn't wise. Its not possible to ban everything,so they need to make a stand together and make it stick. Parenting should be done together.A mother understands children in a way fathers often do not.

3% of Americans are homosexual. 30% of characters on TV or in the movies are homosexual now. Yeah. Really. It's time to boycott. They don't hear street protests. They do hear it when it affects their bank accounts.

It is more than one character in one movie. And, yeah, kids do buy it. That's why it is much more likely now that college students will "experiment" with sex than it has ever been before. What they mean isn't having sex with whomever anymore. It's trying out homosexual relationships too.

This is very much planned out as a marketing campaign, and Disney is in on it for the money. (They already have gay days at their theme parks, becuase it works. It is profitable.)

Who is homosexual on NCSI or NCSI New Orleans? We watch both, (except when it's going to be another gay agenda episode.) We know the cast. I can think of one person (New Orleans) who they might turn into bisexual, but as it stands now, none of the cast are.

Until I see the movie I won't know how to judge it. I'm surprised none of you mention the feminist view of Emma Watson and her agenda against female sexism? Maybe the movie is designed to push away homophobia? Homophobic Christians I'm sure count for only a minority of Christians so good luck with the boycott there, and teaching your kids to hate gays, rather than be more loving towards them and then maybe your child could befriend a gay one day and turn them to Jesus, right? Isn't that what we are supposed to be doing, befriending those who really need to get to know Jesus, rather than hanging around with only people than we love or that love us, or that our parents tell us aren't the enemy?

My husband is a coffee-snob. (Not the kind of guy to stick his nose up in the air, if offered coffee. He just only drinks very good coffee.) His favorite is Sumatra from Starbucks.

Starbucks. The company owned by a guy who is more left than most lefts, but sticks to his guns on his issues, even if left-wingers have been destroying his stores during riots recently. He out-and-out told people if they disagree with his politics, don't buy his coffee.

Hubby answered. "Okay."

This shocked me. Up there with me ever thinking I'd give up Pepsi or Coke. I don't know what I'd do if I gave up either. (Sales. Got to go with sales. lol) But hubby thought about it, lined up which coffees he still likes, minus Starbucks, (and Seattle's Best IS Starbucks), and he means it. No more Starbucks in this house.

The owner doesn't know it yet, but hubby was great with Word of Mouth promoting for the brand. Now he'll be great at Word of Mouth boycotting the brand.

I remember the grape boycott of the 1960s. And Target was boycotted for their stance on transgenderism. Boycotts work, if enough do it.

Disagreeing with homosexuality does not make one "homophobic". And certainly not wanting gays being pushed on children is not homophobic.

Thats quite an assumption. Teaching them homosexuality is against the Bible doesn't mean you hate gays.

They can still do that and be taught homosexuality is wrong.
