There is a term called hebephilia... This term means, the sexual attraction towards a young person ages 11-14...
The American Psychiatric Association (APA), ruled in 2012 that the attraction of young people of that age range is perfectly natural and not a mental disorder.... The basis of the belief was derived through evolution...

The APA of this year(2017), has released a statement saying "Pedophilia is natural and normal for males"....
The APA says "APA stands firmly behind efforts to criminally prosecute those who sexually abuse and exploit children and adolescents. We also support continued efforts to develop treatments for those with a Pedophilic Disorder with the goal of preventing future acts of abuse."

The wording is very interesting...

Abuse: to use for a bad effect/purpose or treat with cruelty or violence....
Exploit: use for selfish profit (in terms of exploiting people).

Now what this means is the APA has said they are behind prosecuting people who treat children with sexual violence, and use them for selfish gain....
If they make the age of consent 13, "hebephilia" (pedophilia) is already widely accepted in academic realms, with 56% of people on Debate .org agreeing to make age of consent 13...
The argument would go as follows, "the 50 year old man did not use violence, did not force the child, and did not use the child for selfish gain, they love each other and the child has given consent".
It sound far fetched, but due to the wording of the APA statement, they support this type of relationship, they only dislike violent or non-consenting pedophilia....

Remember, the APA has had lawsuits on even press release statements... They word everything as carefully as possible before releasing the statement... This is no slip of the tongue.

1970's the APA ruled homosexuality the same way they are ruling pedophilia today...
People in 1970's never thought homosexuality would be legal in 30-40 years...

I hate to say it, but we are only 1-2 generations away from pedophilia being legal...

I can't find a whole lot of recent information on the APA's website concerning this statement. The closest thing I could find is this: http://www.apa.org/news/press/releases/2013/10/pedophilia-mental.aspx

" The American Psychological Association maintains that pedophilia is a mental disorder; that sex between adults and children is always wrong; and that acting on pedophilic impulses is and should be a criminal act. The American Psychological Association has worked for many years to prevent child sexual abuse and will continue to do so."

I also found this, which seems to suggest that hebephilia is natural but acting on the impulses is wrong. http://www.apa.org/monitor/2012/12/jn.aspx

What worries me is the use of the terms "sexual preferences" and "sexual orientation" and that the statements condemn the actions while not condemning the thoughts that lead to them. The idea that someone isn't a pedophile because one hasn't acted on impulses is ridiculous. I have never had romantic or sexual interactions with a man, but I am attracted to men and therefore I would be classified as a heterosexual. Of course someone who acts on pedophilic impulses is much worse than someone who restrains oneself and fights against them. But that doesn't mean having the impulses isn't wrong in and of itself. The Bible condemns those who lust after others as well as those who physically commit the sin. Of course, since most people aren't Christians they don't care what the Bible has to say.

But labeling it as an "orientation" or a "preference" just serves to normalize pedophilia and hebephilia. I don't know any pedophiles so maybe some are born with urges just as all are born with urges to sin. But that doesn't mean it's not also a mental condition. People are often born with mood or rage disorders. That doesn't mean it's not a disorder or that it's okay to not seek help for that disorder.

I'm probably preaching to the choir, but hearing these things brings out the anger in me. How can anyone say harboring desires to harm children is normal? We're headed in a direction where people justify atrocities by citing culture and evolution. Violence and sin is condoned because everyone does it. I don't think we'll legalize everything overnight but if things don't change it's only a matter of centuries before we're more worried about hurting someone's feeling or allowing him/her to express his/her every desire than we are about protecting the innocent.

What I want to know is why the liberal philosophy that same-sex attraction is genetic and must be accepted by everyone, but same-sex attraction towards minors or attraction to animals isn't yet definitely genetic and must be accepted? Liberals?

I am assuming, by the way, that these minors and/or animals would be expressing love/commitment/consent to the best of their ability.
