I heard about this on the radios station on the way home from work. Peanut, a 1 year old puppy, was acting very strangely. Eventually, her owners realized she wanted to be let out. They let her out and she ran to a field near their house. When one of her owners followed her, they found a three-year-old girl naked in a ditch. The article doesn't say it, but according to the radio station, no one even knew she was missing. When the police finally found the girl's home, they found it unsafe and unsanitary. The girl and another child living in the home have been removed and placed in Child Protective Services

The story makes it sound like it cannot be known whether or not Peanut
knew the girl was out there in the field before the dog was let outside,
but if the rest of the story is true, it seems pretty obvious that Peanut
knew exactly why she wanted to be let outside. Animals are amazing.
