Yes,Ive seen the movie of Corrie Ten Boom. I have forgotten her name already but there was a teacher who opened a school for Jewish children and helped them immigrate to other countries and saved there lives. She survived herself but still she risked her life. There were "righteous gentiles" that risked their lives. And as you said, others were murdered.
One family on our Main Line, (where the uber rich live), found a way to bring 50 Jewish children to America to get out of being sent to those camps.

Far better to keep the slaves alive than to kill them? Better yet, protect the property. Slaves were too valuable to do extremely dangerous work, so they'd get the truly useless to do that -- the Irish.

I'd rather be dead than a slave, like southerners did slavery.
Life is precious. I'd rather be alive in any circumstance than to be annhilated for my religion and race. Would you rather be dead than be Irish in the South?

It would have been sad if even 1000 Jews were killed in Germany as part of a genocide. The numbers might not be clear but the loss of lives are tragic.

In South Africa, the white farmers are being murdered at a rate higher than American soldiers in Iraq. The reality of a situation like this is that the world is turning a blind eye to groups of people if the situation makes them uncomfortable. If you only take the statistics of white farmers being murdered in South Africa, we would have been the most violent country in the world.......

The Irish weren't slaves. They were free! (The Irish were considered just as useless in the North.) I suspected I'd go west if I lived back then. (I am Irish in background. Probably why I know how the Irish fit into the landscape back then. But, my peeps lived in NY state back then, so I suspect they worked the salt mines -- literally.)

The two things I covet the most -- God and freedom. My freedom was stolen from me one night. I fought assuming they'd kill me. (Five men, and just me.) I don't take captivity lightly. Some people speculate on which way they'd go. I know.

Don't take this personally, because the South Africans I met on here have been truly great believers and incredibly kind people, BUT if I lived in South Africa, I'd do just about anything to get out! And, I'm fully aware how impossible that would be since that would require money, 30% of the country is unemployed, I'm a mere woman, and my husband and I are too old to walk up an entire continent and then through a minefield of a different kind of anarchy (through the Middle East.)

It is a dead land, except it is still on its feet because it doesn't know to lie down. Your country is one of the most tragic examples of what happens when the far-left gets their way. Anarchy won! Worse yet, nothing can be done. What has happened was the voting choice of the people! Can't start a war over it, because the majority chose this! Democracy stinks! (Republic is better.)

Lynn, I know things are not looking good in South Africa at the moment... but God is busy here friend. The people are turning back to Him and God is going to use our country in a powerful way in the not so distant future.

Unfortunately it will have to get worse before it will get better but I remind my wife (and myself :) ) that God is still in control. Some days are more difficult than others :)

I wonder if either of us will still be alive the day God regains one or both of our countries. Want to take bets on which one first? (LOL Just kidding.)

Wow, it said in one article that one student wanted to be put on the other side of the debate because he agreed with the Nazis. What would you all think about this if this was the teacher's idea for teaching the kids how to argue better against that viewpoint, while also trying to convince that one student that his view was wrong?

"It's settled opinion," Archer said. "You can't say that Jews deserve to die. It should be a settled thing."
Just telling people that their view is wrong and that it is settled does not work at convincing people of your side.

I am not saying it was right for the teacher to do this, but wondering what everyone's view would be if that was the explanation.

I have a coworker that seems sympathetic to Nazi Germany, expressing that he thinks the country has been unduly villainized, and the Holocaust exaggerated, if not fabricated.

I don't know what the teacher's true motive was in presenting a lesson plan like this, but just think of the potential the debate might have had to spur more young minds into becoming sympathizers.

My money is on SA :) .

Things are getting out of control not so slowly but surely and the people are murmuring. Our dear president told crowds of people the other day that the Zulus have not had their revenge on the white boer for blood river and you know what stupid statements like that can trigger don't you...?

We are in it and God is busy stirring the people and the government. I know things are going to happen quickly but I would lie if I told you we are not nervous. I know fear is not from God but it is difficult when you are this deep into a situation like we are in now.

Nervously waiting on God... maybe that should be the title of my history book about this time in South Africa :)

Sounds like your president has himself a bad habit of stirring the pot.
