I do not care how lazy you are.

But all governments run on taxes... all governments... everywhere... all through history.

I doubt the government cares if YOU are lazy... but they DO CARE if a huge portion of the population is lazy.

So, being lazy
(perpetually drunk, high, intentionally unemployed, or otherwise useless in society)
actually IS a societal problem which governments DO address.

There have been times and places where HUGE portions of populations were drunk or high all the time, and it caused massive breakdowns all through society... eventually effecting the government.
And when this happens, a government will step it to change it.

I do not care if YOU are lazy.

I could care less.

But if a huge amount of the population, of any nation, becomes useless as tax payers, or causes a breakdown in civic foundations... governments will step in to change that.

These are just the cold realities of life.

Yes, they call it slavery, totalitarianism, and communism, and religious persecution.

Are we afraid to let people be free? To pursue happiness in a way different from ours?

If your rich, it's OK to be lazy, but a crime if your poor.

--

Has Colorado slipped into the tenth circle of hell because they legalized pot? No.

Did the state fall apart, fall into debt because of it ? No.

Are there crazy, wild, loonies running wildly around? No, you have to go to Washington D.C. to congress for that.

Abortion is a sin.

What should be the penalty for a woman who has an abortion?

Death by firing squad? By hanging to death? Lethal injection?

Which one would you choose?
Non sequitur

The OP forgot a very important someone.

What about the rights of the Creator of the Universe. Does God's opinion count for
nothing.

We need to ask the question how does God want us to advance His role in the world of mankind on this earth? How does He want us to promote His will in our government?

Proverbs 29:2
When the righteous increase, the people rejoice,
But when a wicked man rules, people groan.

Proverbs 28:12
When the righteous triumph, there is great glory,
But when the wicked rise, men hide themselves.

If it's a crime, why do they get federal, state and city hand outs for food, utilities, health, free phones (under Obama). I guess I would call it a crime against the American tax payers.

You've quoted this twice now. Maybe in some cities it's a crime, but not here. What is a crime is when panhandlers begin to curse people for not giving and cause a ruckus. That has happened here.

Jesus is Lord, He is everything.

But can we force everyone else to live by this?

I mean if Christians can pass their morality by law on others by vote, because they happen to be in the majority in that place, city or state,

What will stop others from passing their own religious laws on Christians?

Like making the possession or eating of pork products illegal?

Or beef products, or any meat at all?

Maybe one person believes that the Bible teaches that pork is bad, the other believes that the Bible says it's OK,

Should it be decided by vote and made law? No eating meat? Prison time? Death? (India).

What about the people who don't fight when they drink? Would you penalize all because 2 people got in a fight?

This is soooooooo ridiculous! People drink. People go to bars. People who drink are not penalized.

Only when they do brawl in a bar are they penalized.
Only when they do kill someone with their car are they penalized.

Of course I can't answer for what everyone else does.

And I said that in response to a post about government intervention in the personal lives of their citizens.

---

Maybe you remember, when we were children, hearing about the great depression.

A "chicken in every pot" was the slogan, because the good hard working citizens of this nation were starving.

No jobs, no money. Blame the congress for deregulating the banks, and Wall St..

But now there is a nation with food and shelter, places for people who are in need to go to get on their feet.

Shall we complain to Jesus, that we have plenty, and have to share some?

Do you remember when most people lived in places with dirt floors and out houses?

Worried about starving in the winter?

"America, America, God shed His grace on thee,"

But have we forgotten,

"And crown thy good with brotherhood, from sea to shining sea," and beyond the seas?

--

I would hope, that somehow, we will live in a world where no one is hungry, no child is hungry.

A place where every citizen will get medical care when needed.

A place where people can find work and feed their families.

How can we do it without government? All of us together?

There are some people who abuse the system, but it helps so many more.

We have so many blessings, should we complain at all?

Sure it does, except God gives us free and no one is under any legal obligation to obey God.

It will happen, one day- in the New Jerusalem. No one will be homeless or hungry then.

You are right about this, if we Christians did as we ought, the government would not have to provide charity. It would come from the local churches. In the days before government relief, that is what provided help- the local church. In large part, we have abdicated our privilege of providing charity. There are still churches that help, they have food banks, shelters, clothes, to provide for the poor. There are still Christian missions in our country and others. But for the most part, we have fallen down on the job. I include myself in this assessment of American Christians. If we did what we ought, people would not have to turn to the government.

What you do is between you and your god. What you tell my children that it is okay to do is between you, me and My God. So I suggest that if you are advocating that sinful behavior isn't sinful, if you do it behind closed doors, to my children, keep checking over your shoulder, My God and I are holding you accountable. Enough said.

There are some laws that are illogical but a lot of the laws are a good thing. rules are made to keep order if we give everyone the freedom to do whatever as long as they don't bother anyone then we have the issue that people do dumb things and choas will erupt. It's like if you give a child too much freedom to do as they please.

For instance it's the law here to use your blinker when your turning and most Oklahoma people don't, i am especially cautious when i am out walking because i don't trust drivers here not only are there tons of terrible drivers here but several times within this year alone i was almost killed because people didn't follow the driving laws, if i wasn't paranoid of drivers here I would been killed.

one car almost hit because this lady was texting and driving another almost hit me at night because he didn't turn on his blinker when turning and it was my turn to walk he zoomed by me only inches from hitting me another still was this girl was taking a selfie and lost control of her car for a second and of course i just happened to be going on my walk and just happened to be near her and had she not gotten control of the car as fast as she did she would have hit me.

but the law for weed being illegal while i can understand why it's illegal it also is not the best law because for people like me it would be a great health benefit not only for my diabetes but also for a lot of my bodies problems but people would likely misuse that kind of freedom

You referenced lazy people and that's what I was responding to - lazy people. Paul said if a person doesn't work, they shouldn't eat.

Those falling on hard times is a totally different conversation. I'm happy, able and willing to help out someone that really needs it. I don't agree that we should help people who can work, but don't.

Freedom, is being able to do want you want, as long as you don't interfere with someones else's rights.

--

I am free to swing my arms around all I want, but if I hit you, then I have interfered with your rights.

If consenting adults go into their house at night, and shut the shades and doors, and do things?, is it anybodies else's business?

ARE THEY INTERFERING WITH ANYBODY ELSE'S RIGHTS ?
When actions behind closed doors dip into my wallet, then yes, it's my business, and you lose your privacy rights because your actions are no longer private. That's third grade rationale and arithmetic.

Is it criminal to be lazy?

If your rich, it's OK, but if your poor it's a crime.

Because someone is lazy, how does that interfere with your rights?
Because portions of my paycheck are stolen from me in order to feed the able bodied lazy parasites who can indeed work but choose not to do so.

People who drive under the influence of drugs and alcohol are more likely to kill people, their reflexes are not sharp enough to operate a motor vehicle. If someone under the influence is driving erratically, and is pulled over, do you think they should not be arrested since they have not yet hit anyone?
If a drunk driver kills a liberal he or she should receive an accommodation for public service along with free tuition at the school of their choice.
