He was very much in the wrong for saying that. Apparently, Spicer doesn't know much about the holocaust where gas was used in his attempt to exterminate the Jewish race. It was an idiotic thing to say.

Spicer is okay, he just ain't into the art of mastering politics, history and common sense simultaneously.

Spicer probably meant Hitler didn't use them in the war theater. Either way, it's a screw up. But more attention was paid to this than the fact that Mr's Obama and Kerry told us there were no more chemical weapons in Syria thanks to their diplomatic efforts. Which is the bigger screw up?

As usual I wait a day or two for the full story to come out. I understood what he meant taking into consideration the subject he was talking about. What he was saying was as evil as Hitler was, even he didn't gas his "own" people. Bad comparison, yes. But he did not mean Hitler didn't murder 6 million Jews in gas chambers. As usual everyone runs with a story the minute it hits the news.

Exactly. One has to consider the context in which Spicer made his comments.

I believe this guy was talking about Hitler not using poison gas as a weapon in warfare.. Hitler never used poison gas against the allies troops in battle.. But Assad on the other hand has (if the reports are correct) used Sarin gas as a weapon against the rebels in his country...

Now of course Hitler used poison gas against the prisoners in his detention center concentration camps.. But he never used it as a weapon of war... He used it as a tool of attempted genocide..

Again. 13 million! And many of them, including quite a few Jews, were "his own people."

Yes, rational people easily understand what he was saying. But, he is not speaking to rational people when addressing the Liberal Media. They are just waiting, with baited breath, to shred anything that is told them into vindictive and senseless accusations couched in fanatical, paranoid fear and hatred.

Frankly, Spicer is in way over his head. He talks too fast, and says too much without thinking his answers through. IMHO, he really needed to be replaced a long time ago.

Regardless of his intended context, there are people out there that are of the mind that even the Jews were not actually gassed. Claims have been made that, upon testing for cyanide in the chambers, no traces turned up.

I don't get the idea that Spicer thinks this (or thinks much), but he does need to measure his words better. The media anymore is hell bent on all-out, knee jerk reactions.

Well I was speaking of the Jews because that was what people were dogging Spicer about. But you are right.

IMHO, he was a poor choice for press secretary to begin with. The problem with replacing him now is the right will read it as a cave to the liberal media. I think that he should weather this mess, and resign in the late summer or at the beginning of the next fiscal year. The problem that President Trump has is a suitable replacement. I can't imagine anyone wanting the job.

Well, I can immediately think of one who would be perfect, Dana Perino, of "The Five" on Fox News.

Even if Hitler didn't use chemical weapons in the "war theater", Hitler DID use them against "his own people" much like Assad is alleged in doing.

By the way, I laughed at Spicer's usage of the term "Holocaust centers". It was an epic fail all over the place.

Okay, lets put it in context:

Hitler --> used chemical weapons to kill some of his own people
Assad --> alleged to use chemical weapons to kill some of his own people

How does bringing Hitler into the equation help the point he is trying to make? What IS Spicer's point?!
