but really... defending it with religion? .... Wonder if she would find religious style punishment acceptable as well then, rather than modern- day jail time.
Don't think it has happened in Norway yet (though obviously if it is done the people doing it won't be shouting it from the rooftops), but 15 cases have been reported (they send their kids back to whichever country still does it).

If this is about what I think it is... its basically female circumcision.

This is a barbaric act of mutilation of the female body. If people want to compare it to something, compare it to the cutting off of the male genitalia.
What this ultimately does is to keep the female from being stimulated during sex.
Any Doctor who would be doing this should be barred from practicing medicine and have their License revoked.
This is one more example of the barbaric nature of the Muslim Religion.

What really, really angers me is that there is a Federal Law against this, BUT the punishment for those convicted is ONLY 5 years max.

Apparently, right now there are some 500,000 young girls in America who are in danger of suffering this mutilation. In some States, Doctors won't do it, so the parents just take the girl to another State where a Doctor will do it. And, if they can not find a Doctor in the U.S. to do it, they simply go on Vacation to some Arab country to have it done, and then come home. Some of the girls are as young as 5 or 6 years old.
Why aren't all the Liberal Women's Rights people ALL OVER THIS? Where is N.O.W. and the others?
Where is Congress?
People should contact their Representatives in D.C. and even their State Reps and demand something be done about this!
I am angry that so very little attention is paid to this practice.............and I know why.......because it is Muslims doing it, and it is of the Islamic Faith, they do not want to touch it.

I wanted to say something about genital mutilation, but thought better of it because nobody today cares about male mutilation and since this is about female genital mutilation, it's not really the same even though it is...especially for men who had a BAD circumcision...like yours truly. Anyhow, I will say I think this kind of crap (FGM) needs to stop, along with male circumcision, and everyone needs to mind their own business about other peoples' genitalia. Taking away the ability ofr a person to enjoy sex is certainly a horrible thing, and it has more than just a physical consequence. There's a lot of psychological damage too, and most of these butchers never consider that. Shame on the doctors that perform this procedure to women and men just to make their Mercedes payment and don't care that they are dooming a person to a lifetime of not enjoying something that most others take for granted.
Psychological damage? I think you give too much credit to Muslims who practice FGM. Their aim is to completely dominate women and totally destroy their sexuality. Sometimes it kills the young girl, because they are not given proper medical attention. It is not like they treat women like actual human beings to begin with, either. Women are worth less than a man in their culture.

I am not surprised that modern day "feminists" arent speaking out against this. The things they speak out against usually seem to revolve around them personally, and not actual discrimination or abuse towards women. It seems like youre more likely to hear about how they suffer from ptsd from receiving a compliment than anything like this.
Anywho, I do believe that there are people who are afraid to say anything against it, due to the practice being done by a certain group of people with a certain belief. The words "racist" and "bigot" are thrown around so much anymore that people are afraid to criticize anything if its done by anyone whos perceived as a minority.
