Does it compliment fries?
Sour cream often accompanies baked potato ,and some do like mayo on or with fries, so I can see that it may appeal to some tastes. When I was in the States many years ago I asked for vinegar when I ordered fries, and the server came back and told me that the cook wanted to know what I was going to do with it. LOL. Here vinegar is an acceptable topping for fries, but I guess that is not so well known south of the border :D

Sour cream often accompanies baked potato ,and some do like mayo on or with fries, so I can see that it may appeal to some tastes. When I was in the States many years ago I asked for vinegar when I ordered fries, and the server came back and told me that the cook wanted to know what I was going to do with it. LOL. Here vinegar is an acceptable topping for fries, but I guess that is not so well known south of the border :D
Youn have to have vinegar on your fries with salt.

In Belgium they smother their fries (and in Europe Belgium fries are renowned) with mayo, salad cream and alike.

In fact I have been there a few times and I actually say "Can I have some fries for the sauce please?

Yes, salt and vinegar even became a potato chip flavor... I used to order fries with gravy, and put vinegar on them then, also :D Pepper too :) I seldom eat potato chips, and the S&V flavor is often way over salted :eek: I prefer a lightly salted organic corn chip, with a seven or eight layer dip :)

In Norway you tend to get the thin, soggy kind.

hub and I are not in any kind of habit of 'eating-out', but the other day a friend
wanted to repay me with lunch-out - I had steak, that didn't taste like steak,
and a salad and baked-potato - I sent the steak back after slicing it in two
and finding the middle of it looking like shredded something...anyway,
they gave me 'another meal to take home, as I couldn't/wouldn't eat
the 'meat' - hub threw out the meat and put the 'sour-cream' for the
baked-potato in the fridge, the next day, he was going to use it and
it was a 'solid-pack-of hardened blob', NO CREAMYNESS at ALL...
it had to be some sore of CHEMICAL concoction...

this is a very famous and popular restaurant here in the us and probably
all over the world...

Unless we are talking about my kitchen lol
I do love Fried chicken and I also make some good fried chicken
Im not sure who makes the best fried chicken though
Mama is my wife.

Fried Chicken is a Sunday dinner (lunch for those of you from up north) staple in most old southern homes. I have to admit that many of the younger generations have abandoned their roots and opted for lunch at the diner.

After church the family gathers for a dinner that includes Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy, two or three vegetables, a biscuit, and pie or cake (sometimes both) washed down with a large glass of iced tea.

I've only tried three of the four places listed, and from them I prefer Popeye's.

Heading north from Panama City, there's a little town called Cottondale with a Tom Thumb mini mart that usually has some good fried chicken. They also have potato logs (a different way to make french fries). You'll have to take it with you, but there's a rest area about 15 miles north.

We have a Walmart on sides of us. The one to the east has some excellent rotisserie chicken. The one to the west is not all that great.

The only national chain fried chicken in my immediate geographical area is KFC. That particular physical store is sub-par, and the food turns out the same way. A more regional chain is "Pizza kitchen", which also happens to serve a LOT of fried chicken (ironic as it may be), but I'm not a fan.

There are some foods that just turn out much better from my own home kitchen, and fried chicken is one of them.

Never heard of Church's over here but we have KFC.

I love KFC.
Supermarkets over here sell Southern Fried Chicken but it's not the same.

I went out to KFC with a friend and his son with my son, at their suggestion.

We got the bargain buckets. They actually pulled the coating off and just eat the chicken. I was flabbergasted, mind you I eat it all.

I could destroy this big boy in no time.



Ps don't tell anyone on the BDF as some will accuse me of gluttony and goodness knows where that will lead
HAHAH I like KFC, Churches, Popeye's in U.S. and RED ROOSTER and EL JANNAHS in Australia......

If you want to live to a ripe old age lay off the fried chicken from any fast food joint.

Good taste worth risking your life to attain? Not more than one time a month perhaps.

You must have found an unenlightened spot. I've had vinegar on fries many times and it is quite popular at the county fairs this time of the year.

Probably has it's roots in the English chips of yesteryear.
