It's almost as if this will discourage people from calling the police when they need them

That was truly a tragedy what happened to that Australian women! That policeman certainly failed his job in that situation, but I will still choose having a police force over no police at all and lawless mayhem!

Those signs cracked me up! lol

And I can't understand how the cop who shot her ever graduated from the academy. If he even went. I hear he was hired because of some affirmative action type thing.

Me, too. I agree with mailmandan. I'd rather have a trigger-happy police force than none at all. But can you imagine calling the police for help, being relieved when they show up, then getting killed by the "rescue" for going up to tell them what's going on? I mean, I don't know if she even had time to realize what had happened to her!

Screening candidates should be done according to police standards, not to other standards.

I suspect Mohamed Noor shot her because she was immodestly dressed. Mohamedans from 3rd world countries should not be given a badge, or imported to begin with.

@Mailmandan: Okay, I just have to say this. For some reason I often read screennames wrong. I don't have dyslexia, it's just screennames. For some reason, I keep misreading your name as Mailmadan!

The real oddity here is that law enforcement in our country is admitting a candidate in from a country that more or less despises the US.

Anyone seen a US Marshall in this particular officers country? I know, apples and peaches (impeaches...).

I think he shot her because he was scared...you just don't fire across your partner if you don't believe it is an emergency. I don't think he had an ill will, but he was not cut out for law enforcement in the first place.

The authorities pushing the police to hire him are to blame.

It could be a psychological identify thing you need to work through.
