If the kid new it was dirty WHY did he not clean it??? Or at least inform someone who would? Instead of doing nothing but waiting to be a FORMER employee before saying anything about it?

I get Dairy Queen and A&W mixed up... I wanted an A&W burger one day and went to DQ instead, not realizing my mistake, and the drink they served me was terrible, I could not consume it due to the fact that it tasted like mold/mildew, and when I finally got their attention to inform them of that fact, they said, oh, they knew what the problem was and someone would clean the machine at some point in the future, and they did not even offer me a replacement drink. The burger was not very good either, and the onion rings were dry and tasteless, but still sometimes I say DQ when I mean A&W LOL

My grandson-in-law managed one of our local McDonalds. He had a kitchen maintenance crew that stripped and cleaned everything down between 1 and 3 every night. Other than that, the person assigned to a station kept it clean. The owners inspected the whole operation at least weekly, and McDonald's corporate inspected every six months. The health department also showed up on a regular basis. The health department shut down a couple of restaurants every year. I don't remember a Mcdonalds being one of them. One Chinese restaurant was a frequent flyer until it finally closed for good. Taco Bell got nailed once.

With all the inspections, it's hard to believe that any component could get this bad.

A regular problem for me, especially at fast food places is sour iced tea. Most always apologize and give me a different drink free.

I agree. I have family working for McD's also and they would not allow something like that to happen. I work with people who think they have cleaned something and it is filthy when they put it away or back in place or into the dish rack for drying :p It is not like they are open to being constructively criticized either, or follow directions when offered...

My daughter and I were out for brunch recently and the server had a name tag on; I commented on the meaning of his name (as I often do in such cases) and we chatted pleasantly about it but then, once the server left after taking our order, my daughter said that our food would now be spit on because of me saying something about his name... LOL. I did not think it was that bad, and I doubt that particular person would have done anything like that, but it has been made more public some of the disgusting things people will do to your food if you displease them in any way. Where is our crying emoji??? :D

Since the entire "news story" is Yahoo telling about something that went viral, it's hard to believe it's a news story either.

I have gotten to testify to people in a way over talking to them about their name... my daughter and I frequent a restaurant where our server, a young woman named Leah, had often only heard the negative things associated with her name. I love the Genesis stories, and quite enjoyed filling her in on some of the details she was unaware of. My daughter gets to hear the stories at the same time :)

Ugh, we watched some of the Hand Maid's Tale, which uses the Bible and Jacob and Rachel and Leah and their hand maids as justification for their life style, it is pretty bad what they have done. I could not watch it after a couple of episodes, maybe three. It is so over the top, and quite an abuse of Scripture :(

I have no idea what that component is. According to Mcdonalds, it wouldn't have contaminated the food.

Anybody have any experience with ice cream machines?

Oh yeah... hollywood just lovvvves butchering the bible. Except Mel Gibson - but he's pretty much blacklisted in hollywood anyway.

I was wondering the same thing. I have a feeling it might be something on the bottom near the floor that catches spills or something... but I'm just taking a wild guess.

OOh... here is pic of a mcdonalds ice cream machine... It has to be the tray under that grill that catches spills! At least that's my best guess.. I can see how they might never clean it..

News is news. You should read some of the articles in my local news paper. It comes out twice a week. The most interesting articles are the jail docket and the obits, followed by the marriage licenses issued, and divorces granted list.

It's what's in the piece not the piece itself. The component is a catch tray. If the machine isn't cleaned then that stuff is the result of dripping and spillover.. All in there somewhere

Around here restaurant inspection happens, more for logging purposes than truly checking for cleanliness.
