White House says Trump 'weighed in as any father would' on misleading statement about Donald Jr.'s Russia meeting - LA Times

According to Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Donald Trump Sr. helped Donald Trump Jr. write his initial statement regarding the Russia meeting, despite Trump's lawyer stating that the President was not involved in the drafting of the statement. Sanders maintains that there was nothing false in the statement, despite Donald Trump Jr. only indicating that there were four people attending the meeting (there were 8) and stating that he told Paul Manafort and Jared Kushner nothing about what the meeting was supposed to be about (he forwarded them the initial e-mail, whose subject line read "FW- Russia - Clinton - private and confidential").

And if it was just that I'd be less bothered. But lying about it and then having Sanders lie that the statement didn't contain lies... it's been ridiculous for a while, but now it's bordering on insanity.

I don't think anyone writes any statement solo at that level.

Hardly anybody writes statements solo at the state government level, let alone the Presidency.

That's part of the reason why said statements are often vague and weak. Too trial-tested. Too many lawyers.

DJT was one member of a large team.

I don't think anyone writes any statement solo at that level.

So? But I think it is more true that he suggested what Jr. should say...........I do know that when speaking to Prosecutors, it is best to simply tell the truth and let the chips fall where they may. Don't embellish, don't lie, don't mislead......just tell the truth.

Trump's problem is talking when he should be listening. My uncle, a sheriff's detective gave me this advice. Guilty or not, when speaking to prosecutors, let your lawyer do the talking. When the police ask you for a statement, tell them that you will be glad to do so, forty-eight hours later. If the statement appears in the least bit like an interrogation, ask for a lawyer immediately. Again, let your lawyer do the talking.

that is, after all, what their purpose is ;)

and when the enemy accuses us -- is it not Christ who stands making intercession?

Plead my cause, O Lord, with them that strive with me:
fight against them that fight against me.
Take hold of shield and buckler, and stand up for mine help.
Draw out also the spear, and stop the way against them that persecute me:
say unto my soul, I am thy salvation.

(Psalm 35:1-3)

on the news topic though, it is significant.
it is direct involvement from our POTUS instructing his son to give a statement and description that has been shown later to be misleading.

If there weren't persecutive and sometimes even blood-thirsty lawyers on the other side, this might be good advice. As it is, *Billyd* gives the best advice.... "Let your lawyer do the talking."

Of course you must realize by now that we are now living in the world of Donald Trump's alternative facts. We don't have to like it, but it is pushed upon us.....

Realize, yes. Accept, no. Historically, countries who started accepting their crazy leader's lies as the truth and normal have become dictatorships. Donald Trump's already shown that he'd rather be allowed to do whatever he wants and not have the checks and balances that exist. If people don't call him out on every lie and unethical action/statement he makes, things are going to get worse.

I really don't see how this is really an issue.

It's an issue because they lied about it. Trump's lawyer said that Donald Trump wasn't even involved in writing the statement. Now, it's come out that the President of the United States instructed his son to release a statement that contained lies.

Ccnsidering you seem to be all for exposing lies, i would hope you would also be for exposing the lies of the mainstream media who try to deceive the people

Seems when It comes to Trump,we are suppose to look at the bigger picture and overlook the potential danger. They might say,Oh,he told a lie, don't be so sensitive look at the big picture.I just don't have that kind of blind trust In someone that said I can shoot someone and Its still all good.
