I couldn't find unbiased, but I found the horse's mouth. (Original post, straight from WhiteHouse.gov.)

https://www.whitehouse.gov/the-press-office/2017/08/02/president-donald-j-trump-backs-raise-act

My thoughts? It stinks!

My ancestors all had one thing in common that got them to America -- they were the down-and-outs looking for a better life for their kids. Even the great grandson of the Duke of Windsor was down-and-out. They lost their title, land and heads. (His father and great-great grandfather lost their heads for insisting on something as silly as their land. Sarcasm in full-ought Lynn mode. But they were well-too-do, but lost it all at a couple of kings' decrees.) They all had to leave their countries or watch their children starve to death. AND that's the history of most Americans' ancestors. This country is made from the tired, the poor, the huddled masses yearning to be free.

And that is built into our morals, our fiber, our traditions, and our outlook. Our common thread has aways been to work hard to give our kids better. Now that's not good enough?

E-yah!!! (Picture me brushing the back of my fingers outward from my neck, to my chin, and on into the air.)

THIS is what happens when the whole choice over a Presidential election is just a big e-yah to the other political party. We had two choices, and both choices truly sucked. Now we're paying the piper for the tuneless. Gee. I wonder why he can't even get along with his supposedly-own party. (He was never conservative!)

Just more evidence of Trump's discrimination against immigrants. He's perfectly fine with them as long as they're willing to sleep with him or building one of his towers for him in unsafe conditions while being cheated out of their pay, but, as far as he's concerned, the rest can leave.

sooo.... honest questions, because i don't know....

are Cotton and Perdue pawns or something? they introduced the bill, and modified it, but do we think they're not representing their own agendas?

if i'm not mistaken, immigration was restricted to under half a million people annually when i came of age. why so much higher a number now?

haven't Canada and Oz had laws like this for some time?

Have you forgotten what it was like in the News Forum last autumn? Definitely quite a few toting him as our conservative Man of God choice.

I think my hope is based on there are enough true conservatives AND enough liberals in Congress that our President is lame duck already. If he can't even get a new health bill passed, why think he could get a left-field agenda passed? (No pun to the liberals. I really meant out-in-left-field, not left-winged.)

The Man of God part always confused me. I mean, the idea that anyone could support him period. But to think a sexist, racist, lying adulterer with ties to the mafia and who claims to not need to repent is a Man of God...oh, did people skip every single Bible verse pertaining to justice and salvation?

Guys, I will answer this thread as a South African currently experiencing what your president is trying to prevent.

South Africa currently have just over 60 million people. This is a conservative guesstimate as nobody actually knows how many foreigners are currently here illegally. The problem it creates is that people are willing to work here illegally for lower wages. That in itself might not be a problem but none of these people are tax payers and many of them turn to violent crimes to support their families back home. The unemployment rate in South Africa has spiralled out of control to more than 40%. Crime rates have escalated to levels that we are the most dangerous country to visit not currently in a war. Of all the countries currently (in wars or not) we are one of the top 10.

President Trump is protecting your borders, and while you are still living in a country with no bars in front of your windows you must appreciate the vision of the man. I am not the biggest Donald Trump fan as a person but that he is trying to protect America cannot be argued.

I'll add to this.
Every sovereign nation has limited resources at any time to support it's population. The United States is no different. Employment needs to be seen as a resource too. We have to limit immigration. We have to select the best and brightest to immigrate here. We need people who will be productive. Most people have a story about their great grand parents coming over on a ship, I doubt the countries they came from would have taken them back, or any of their descendants today. The people around the world, who are poor, sick, and oppressed, need to learn to thrive where they are at. Watch this. https://youtu.be/LPjzfGChGlE

our 'heros', those whom we 'trusted the most' SOLD us out so that they could, obviously
in their minds become 'richer and richer' on the backs of poorer countries, 'OUT=SOURCING',
it's something that reminds me of the way after the GARDEN, 'all for one and one for all'...

it truly is a 'satanic-sickness', pervading all over our worldly-garden...

Tom,
most of our ancestors already had a healthy working ethic, and somehow had heard that if they
came to America, that they would have a chance and a genuine welcome to HELP our states improve
and truly desired to be a part of this, after their own had 'sold them out'...we DID allow them to come in
and they DID HELP us to become the most powerful nation in the universe...

what people are talking about today, is entirely 'different', we are being 'INVADED' by those who what to
'destroy AMerica and its people, and all that it has ever stood for, for the generosity that we gave in
welcoming others to work with us 'side-by-side, for the 'good of the country and its people...

definitely NOT happening NOW...even many of our 'school children' have to 'take-time-out', to let the
invaders 'worship' their pagan gods...

If the mainstream media had known the backgrounds of the ww2 scientists who were smuggled into the US, we would have no space program and be speaking Russian now. Sometimes it's good to keep some things secret.

A step in the right direction. But I rarely let "perfect" stand in the way of "good."

what an odd thing to say, Des, because there is 'always God's perfect ways',
rare to see, but always there...:)

Yes, but we live in a world where if you want something worth having, you have to pay or compromise for it.

Ok, I really do not see what your response has to do with my post. But if you would like to discuss something else, I will.
