College football rankings: Alabama ranked No. 1 in preseason Coaches Poll

Sporting News,Yahoo7 19 hours ago

The preseason Amway Coaches Poll was released Thursday, signifying that the start of college football is nearly here.
Preseason polls are always good for inciting arguments starting discussions, but it seems most of the usual suspects are ranked at the top of the poll this season. For the second year, Alabama opens as the No. 1 team in the country. The Tide are followed by Ohio State, Florida State, USC and Clemson, respectively.
MORE: SN's 2017 conference, CFP predictions
Some analysis of the polls: The SEC once again leads the Power 5 in number of teams represented, with six. However, Alabama is the only conference team in the top 10 — the next-highest team is LSU, at No. 12.
The ACC and Big 12 are tied for second with five teams apiece in the poll. The ACC's Atlantic Division seems fairly crowded, with FSU (No. 3), defending champions Clemson (No. 5) and Louisville (No. 17) vying for division supremacy. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State represent the Big 12's top teams at Nos. 8 and 12, respectively.
The Big Ten and Pac-12 tie for third with four teams represented. Still, the Big Ten has the most top-10 teams of any conference with No. 2 Ohio State, No. 6 Penn State, No. 9 Michigan and No. 10 Wisconsin. That Big Ten East race between the Buckeyes, Nittany Lions and Wolverines should be a doozy this season.

There was a Story on the Local News yesterday talking about how Bama fans and Coaches 'n' Players all figure it was a poor Season IF they DON'T WIN the National Championship! Shoot! Lose a GAME and they all start wringing their hands and wondering if Sabin will have a job?

:)

Spoiled we are............. :)

Don't worry about the red tide. They are going to lose the Iron Bowl this year.

That was some thriller between Bama and Clemson in January for the national title.

But there is a yuge difference between being ranked #1 at the season's start and season's end. And while most polls that I saw gave the lead to the Tide, there is some talk that Ohio State may be the actual leader owing to its depth.

Well, I dunno. After all OSU has been similarly ranked before and the prediction has usually turned out to be a jinx. The NCAA championship will be played in Tampa, Florida thereby giving the southern champ a home field advantage. On that basis I would give the edge to Bama or possibly FSU or Clemson.

You flatter yourself old timer. I'd have to consider you before making a decision to not like you. You, on the other hand, have made it very clear multiple times you don't like me...because I am, in your words, a "phony". You make me laugh. Smoochies.

You also seem to have a memory problem. It was you who (when you first came here) made it clear what you thought of me, and, oddly enough, I pretty much had the same thoughts about you.

And you are correct. You are a phoney. Why? Because when you first came here you were all crying and whining about some disorder you had that caused you to not react like a normal person or some such. You posted crude, rude and insulting comments and then said you didn't care what other people thought about your comments or you. THEN you would post comment after comment about how it wasn't your fault because of this "CONDITION."

Seems to me, if someone REALLY didn't care what others thought or said, they wouldn't BOTHER to try and explain why they posted crude, rude and insulting comments. That told me you were a phoney.

And, you came on my Thread, I didn't come on yours.......sooooooo

I think it's funny because any other member could have made the exact same thread gushing over any other team and I would have made the same joke about their favorite team. Especially if it had been Nebraska.

...but somebody had to get defensive and then lash out because he interpreted it as a personal attack. Now THAT is funny.

I think it's funny because someone continues to insist they don't care what someone else says or thinks, yet they continue to comment, and comment........seems to me if someone didn't really care, they wouldn't bother to comment......I mean, why? Unless they actually DO care..........hmm.......

Not always, just when some loser decides to jump in........and it ain't football that causes the "worst in people." It's the worst in people that causes the worst in people. But, then, they have a condition...........so we can't challenge them about it......

Football always brings out the worst in people.

I do love these little exchanges with you. Honestly I do. Not so much for the verbal sport, but moreso because of what they mean to you. In your mind, these exchanges are a way for you to demonstrate why you are right, and why I am wrong, and they give you opportunity to say all the things you are normally too gutless to say, even if you have to veil them or speak them from the side of your mouth. Having a response or a retort for everything and always being right no matter what is what we alcoholics know as "alcoholic logic". I'm quite familiar with it.

Between you and I; between you and the rest of the membership here at CC - no matter who reads or wades into this little foray of ours - YOU are the only one who really cares how it pans out. You think somehow there is some prize for you to win if you air my laundry in front of everyone, and you are mistaken. You believe that you'll somehow reduce my standing here and increase yours. Again, you are mistaken. Knowing you as I do, I have no doubt you are up to the task of replying to this with your rapier wit and dredging up some more things about me from nearly a year ago that still make you mad. If that is how you choose to spend your time, I cannot stop you, nor would I want to try.

Given your penchant for analyzing other people, me in this instance, I pose a rhetorical question to you - have you ever turned your critical eye upon yourself and examined your own character as closely? Somehow I doubt you have, and I would venture to guess you haven't because you don't feel it's necessary. I wonder if you've ever been wrong or made a single mistake in your entire life.

I hope someday that you quit taking everything so personally. Whether you want to admit it or not, you know my comment wasn't against you, but right now, you're too busy seeing what you want because you enjoy your anger and you feel righteous for it. I feel sorry for you.

Speaking on analyzing............you mistakenly believe I am angry, or have responded in anger. WRONG! When dealing with you I am humored, and spend most of my time laughing at you.........Once, long time ago, I felt sorry for you, but then you proved yourself to be a phoney.............and, after that, you were just a sad joke.......

You intentionally came on my Thread to post your comment hoping to stir something up, and you admitted it when you said you would have posted the same comment on anyone's Thread. Just looking to stir the pot, and see what you can get started. That really is what you are good at, and what you really desire.

Christian Fellowship, and learning and growing in Christ has never been your intention for being here, and YOU have made that quite clear.

Tell ya what, let's see if you are adult enough to agree to stay off my Threads and I will gladly stay off your Threads, and there will be no more of these worthless exchanges.
