i said that inasmuch as it is prosecutorial discretion, that is not unconstitutional.

exercising discretion in who to prosecute and who not to prosecute is not unconstitutional.

you said 15,000,000 illegal immigrants here. how feasible do you think it is to track down, arrest, jail, prosecute and deport every single one of them? how long would all the courts in the country be tied up doing that? how many immigration officers would it take? how much money would have to be spent housing all these people in holding facilities & flying them back to other countries?

so where do you start? which people do you round up first?
would you start with people who were brought here against their will when they were less than 10 years old, who have jobs, pay taxes, and aren't otherwise in any trouble with the law?
or would you start with people who are criminals, who don't have jobs, who knew they were breaking the laws to come here and did so anyway, on their own, uncoerced?

that's what DACA is about. it's not a "law" granting amnesty to anyone. it's not giving people citizenship. it's not giving them SS checks or medicare. it's showing mercy, in an organized way, to a class of illegal immigrants that is the least offensive subset of illegal immigrants, by forgiving their trespass while the limited resources that are available to curb immigration are concentrated on the most offensive cases.

    what's why, exactly?

it's because we don't 100 million policeman sitting on the side of every road every 1/8 of a mile pulling over 98% of all motorists 24 hours a day, and we don't have 100 million immigration officers knocking on every door and stopping every pedestrian demanding citizenship papers at every intersection in every town in the country.

so, i mean, if you really want to live in a total police state, by all means, vote for someone willing to raise taxes to the extent that is necessary to do that.

i just want the facts to be straight here on this topic. i don't want to give the impression that i don't care about illegal immigration or am in favor of an 'open door' policy towards it.

i'm for the Dream Act. i'm for mercy. i'm for congress establishing a reasonable path to citizenship for the people affected by this. i'm for being reasonable and prudent about what to do with the issue the country faces here. DACA as a policy is charitable, but it's only a temporary & half-measure of dealing with the problem. what really needs to happen is that Congress needs to enact actual laws and policies to address it.

in that respect, it's kinda nice that they're faced with it now, and very publicly so, and i'm glad that the president has taken a step to force their hand. personally, i'd much rather that a D - controlled Congress had the issue foisted into their lap, because i generally disagree with the R's approach to it.

so i'm glad that Trump has done this - even though i think he could have done it in a better way - and i'm specifically glad that he's announced dropping the existing preferential deportation policy with a 6 month warning, giving Congress time to do something, and time for all the people it affects time to think about what they can do next. it's horrible, for many people, the potential consequences, and i feel horrible for them.

let's hope Congress will show the same kind of charity that the previous POTUS did.

DACA isn't a "law" it's a policy outline of prosecutorial discretion.

it's effectively a directive to the immigration board not to bother tracking down and arresting people who fall into the categories it outlines. in that respect it is no different from Highway Patrol making it a policy not to bother pulling people over for speeding unless they are going 10mph+ over the speed limit, or are driving recklessly in some capacity other than their velocity. that doesn't "legalize speeding" -- if an officer for whatever reason feels it's necessary to bust someone only going 6mph over the limit, they still can and will. DACA doesn't "legalize illegal immigrants" either - if they don't apply for deferred deportation, or if they are arrested for any other reason, or even if they just happen to tick off the wrong immigration officer, they still face being deported.

it doesn't give aliens a path to citizenship; that was part of the failed Dream Act.
I think I'm a little ahead of you here, I understand what DACA does. I'm arguing that the POTUS did not have the right to enact the policy because it pretty much does what the dream act proposed. And it is a law - or at least it was.

The dream act had some flaws that kept it from sailing through the House, bu i thought it was basically sound for what it did. What it didn't do is address the larger issue of immigration control. I don't think it's fair or just or merciful for american companies to hire people who are here illegally and pay them less and without consequence treat them like crap. I don't think it's fair or merciful for illegal immigrant employers to hire the same, not pay taxes or provide health or W/C or liability insurances and undercut legal companies who are paying for those things - and believe me, I'm seeing this take place right now and have seen it since being in the work place. It's especially not fair or just or merciful that any immigrant who has to actually land at an airport in USA is automatically vetted and systematically required to follow the law as written and deported if they don't while millions of others can walk right in without consequence.

However, because someone doesn't agree with your opinion concerning DACA their Christianity is called into question? That's rich.

Tired of this political crap. And all those people who are so blind in their own pride and self-righteousness, but not seeing through the eyes of God.

DACA wasn't just for, "Dreamers." It was used as a leeway for ALL illegal aliens to gain animosity, and used by Obama to gain popular vote. He even said it in his speech and not giving one damn. In 2015, DACA expanded, in that, it allowed ALL illegal aliens to gain animosity regardless of AGE. This number you see throwing around by the Democratic party, 800,000, is a false number. The number actual reflects in the 10 millions; expert even suggest it's in the 49 millions.

DACA is an exploit giving to those who came here illegally; praised by the left because it keeps them in power. It allows illegal immigration to vote, to work, without any paper work. The devil then uses human shield to do his evil work and then laughs in your face and calls you the bad guy because you have to do the clean up of his mess. Only disgusting people uses others as human shields while republicans and conservatives have to clean up the mess that was created and be called the bad guy.

Poll has shown that America is now in the 90% of those not believing in Jesus. Democrats are now using this to their advantage to rule in their favor. Most of you are on the wrong side, and I can tell you why, it's because you don't have the spirit of God.

It is to my understanding that, while Atheism is still rising, Christianity still outnumbers any other religion or non believers.
