I just saw on Fox News that hurricane Irma increases to category 4 as it approaches Florida.

Let us continue to lift everyone up in prayer to the Lord who lives in Florida.

I'm not a bad guy. I'm just misunderstood.

Galatians 6:14 - But God forbid that I should boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.

Kinda wish we had left too but driving in Florida right now is a nightmare. My fear was to be stuck in traffic for two days and then run out of gas. I've been doing a lot of second guessing as of late but now I'm out of time and what will be will be.

It helps to make command decisions in life, especially as Christians, who, as Jesus said, we are empowered through the Authority of His Name, access to "all authority in Heaven and earth," as pastors have taught, he already had all Power in Heaven and earth. When we know what we want God to do, we should just ask in His Name, even command it, in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, as the Apostle Peter, for this hurricane to turn again, out to sea--to the east and Atlantic--according to the will of God, or a direction that best serves His Divine Providence, and spares the lives and the state of Florida, and the USA from another disaster in already dire times. We thank you LORD for your Mercy.

The LORD demonstrated the unlimited Power of God, especially of His Love for suffering humanity, in calming the storm that was threatening the lives of the Apostles, which appeared in the Bible just before He commanded the devil to leave a suffering human being. He can command nature, which is easy for the God who sets Galaxies in motion. But, He came to free humanity from the inner storms that attempt to interfere with our lives and mission as Christians to "prepare the Way of the LORD," and to proclaim the freedom and eternal Life of the humble assurance of the free-gift of salvation, made real in our lives as we obey the LORD and walk in His way.

The pastor today referred to the Church, as the Apostle Paul compared, our relationship with God as being similar to a marriage feast. Like any Covenant, and God is perfectly faithful to His Covenants, we are called to honor our commitment to the New Covenant. Sometimes marriages come to an end in this life, at times for the wrong reasons. But, our commitment to the New Covenant, in Christ, faithful to the end, forever, unto life or death, must be real at all costs.

Yesterday, there was a menacing storm approaching the city from the eastern mountains.
But, along the southern edge, there was a rainbow, and the sun was shining from the west.
This is a reminder of God's eternal Covenant with all humanity equally.

How nice to know that people in Florida are deeply religious. Mind you, I can't help but wonder how many of those people are deeply religious when there isn't a hurricane on its way.
GOD HEARS PRAYERS, AND SPARES FLORIDA THE WORST, AND GIVES ANOTHER SIGN OF RARE TIDAL EVENT SIMILAR TO EXODUS OF THE JEWS ACROSS THE RED SEA,
AS HURRICANE IRMA DISSIPATES TO A CATEGORY 2 STORM.

The hurricane heading for St. Petersburg, could also be interpreted as a sign that the LORD recognizes the importance of peaceful Russian-American relations, putting election challenges in the past, and the importance of peaceful relations with Russia, since he also spared the Russian Churches in Florida.

[O LORD]... "Listen to the moaning of the prisoners. Demonstrate your great power by saving those condemned to die." [Israelites/Christians/wrongfully, excessively, or unjustly imprisoned, and all fallen humanity]"
..."Then we your people, the sheep of your pasture, will thank you forever and ever, praising your greatness from generation to generation." (Judaic Psalm 79:11 & 13 NLT; Tyndale; 1996--all quotes)

From the letter of the Apostle Paul to the Romans (1st Century) (Romans 1:14-32 NLT).

"For I am not ashamed of this Good News about Christ. It is the power of God at work, saving everyone who believes—the Jew first and also the Gentile.[g] 17 This Good News tells us how God makes us right in his sight. This is accomplished from start to finish by faith. As the Scriptures say, “It is through faith that a righteous person has life."

This is directed equally towards myself and all people equally: The first verses might target excesses of Liberalism, and secularism, while the final verse targets judgmental conservatives equally. Paul is taking this from Jesus Himself, who said that when we judge others, we are condemning ourselves. Many people have just witnessed or experienced the most powerful hurricane on record. The LORD dissipated it, one command, out of Mercy, as He did, Jesus the Christ, calmed the storm in the Bible, to warn the earth's people, to turn from our sins. He has shown us Divine Mercy.

18 But God shows his anger from heaven...
20-For ever since the world was created, people have seen the earth and sky. Through everything God made, they can clearly see his invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature...
24-So God abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired. As a result, they did vile and degrading things with each other’s bodies... they worshiped and served the things God created instead of the Creator himself, who is worthy of eternal praise! Amen.
26-That is why God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. 27 And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other...
32- They are fully aware of God's death penalty for those who do these things, yet they go right ahead and do them anyway."
    Romans 2:1

    Conservatives:
"When you say they are wicked and should be punished, you are condemning yourself, for you do these very same things..." (Rom. 2:1)

4- "Don't you realize how kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Or don't you care? Can't you see how kind he has been in giving you time to turn from your sin?"

Today, some Christians honor the death of John the Baptist, cousin of Jesus of Nazareth, the LORD and CHRIST, which was when He began His ministry, fulfilling Isaiah's prophecy:
"The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light. And for those who lived in the land where death casts its shadow, a light has shined." "From then on, Jesus began to preach,
"Turn from your sins and turn to God, because the Kingdom of Heaven is near."
    (Matthew 4:16-17;
    NLT-Tyndale 1996).

***Note: some of these verses may be from the internet New Living Translation, biblegateway (dot) com, which may not be similar to the 1996 Tyndale.

I think you were right not to go. The storm's trajectory left no real escape route unless you had a plane that could fly you out of its path. How are you guys doing?

So, did God spare America? Yes He did. It sounds like an amazing successful exodus from Florida--
    Even into the Atlantic:
This photo is from the NBCNEWS (dot) com site that depicts the shoreline when a rare tidal event took place that allowed people to walk on the ocean floor like when the Jews did after Moses parted the Red Sea as they escaped from Egypt and the pursuing armies of the Pharoah (Egyptian king):

great point!! honesty, I saw that, but here in Georgia, we got a good 12 hours of driving rain and howling winds, but thanks to the Lord, it was only about 60 degrees all day, so we got no severe thunderstorms ( a common event with tropical systems ).

I did not think about the Exodus connection , thanks for pointing that out, and thanks once again to God for sparing us from what could have been terrible loss of life!

Except for some flickering lights, and one minor incident where my back-door neighbor's plastic shed literally "exploded" from the wind, we hardly noticed much in the manner of a hurricane. It was more like a light tropical storm for us.

God certainly blessed the St. Petersburg area.

Other than losing power for 40 hours we made out OK. It was like Wille-T said, due to the shift in the eye by the time it reached us it was like a weak Cat 1 or a strong tropical storm. The potential was there for it to be a devastating hurricane but in the end it sort of limped in and out. I've see a lot worse. Thank you for your concern.

Wife wants to live in Colorado as she has visited there extensively. Maybe in a couple years. I used to live in Michigan but I'm a southern big city boy now. Actually, I miss the change of seasons, in Florida the seasons are hot and hotter. There is no fall, the leaves are either green or dead. I could probably handle living in Colorado. No Rocky Mountain high for this guy though.
