    Default Hurricane Irma

    The Florida Keys are in danger from an approaching hurricane. A British newspaper is reporting this with the words "may God protect us all".

    How nice to know that people in Florida are deeply religious. Mind you, I can't help but wonder how many of those people are deeply religious when there isn't a hurricane on its way.

    Being deeply religious is not necessarily a good spiritual practice. Religion is basically man's attempt to please God. If you are referring to the qualities displayed by Christians I am sure this will become self-evident in the days to come. I understand your point though, there are those that may seek God in times of trouble but have little use for Him in the seemingly good times.

    Reminds me of a Poem found written on a wall in Viet Nam in 1969:

    God and the Soldier
    We adore
    In times of war
    And no more
    With the danger past
    And all things righted
    God is forgotten
    And the Soldier slighted

    No wonder you worry. Given that Great Britain's are leaving the Church in droves according to the Reports I read here. Considering the numerous deadly terrorists attacks there, I have to wonder why?

    What is the latest update on hurricane Irma? I heard that the Virgin Islands have suffered severe damage.

    What about other islands in the Caribbean?

    Latest update that I've heard: "Hurricane Irma left more than 1 million residents of Puerto Rico in the dark Thursday after carving a destructive path through a string of Caribbean islands and killing at least nine people.

    The Category 5 storm battered the tiny island of Barbuda (at first I thought they said Bermuda) and left thousands homeless on the island territories of St. Bart and St. Martin, where local officials said about 95 percent of the island was completely demolished after Wednesday's thrashing.

    You might want to visit Key west before you make any comments about the Godly people
    2 Peter 1:5 Because you have these blessings, do all you can to add to your life these things: to your faith add goodness; to your goodness add knowledge; 6 to your knowledge add self-control; to your self-control add patience; to your patience add devotion to God; 7 to your devotion add kindness toward your brothers and sisters in Christ, and to this kindness add love.

    Here is a detailed map showing the hurricane's path (which islands are/were in the path). You can zoom in as much as you want. It's a google map..

    I saw an update on the news about an hour ago. I live in Alaska, the other end of the USA, and there are fewer weather threats here, unless you are out as sea. Someone said "IRMA" means, "godess of war?"
    I've been praying that the hurricane will shift North East, out into the North Atlantic, to remind people of the sinking of the Titanic, and that we need to either be onboard the ship of life, or another-- let's keep praying for this, since it is a possibility, since it is turning gradually towards the north, and it is possible for it to keep turning away from Florida-- VERY possible! Not only because Florida is a small peninsula and the hurricane is heading directly towards it, which is a small landfall area, JESUS said, Who demonstrated power over nature, "All things are possible with God!" He calmed a storm with one command. Let's ask, in His Name, for mercy on America and Florida.

    I just received a confirmation from a very good preacher on TV-- the moment I posted about praying for the hurricane to shift northeast and miss Florida to remind people about the Titanic, and choosing to be on-board the ship of life headed towards Paradise, the preacher said that Christians are asleep-- just like on the Titanic. His sermon has been about the importance of communication, and that prayer is communication. And that we are to "pray always," as the Apostle Paul taught.
    To do this we must have an "attitude of prayer." "Always," means three Greek words:" 1) By, or watching (not sleeping) "through" the whole opportunity/situation; 2) Every situation 3)

    When we are attacked, the pastor said, we must "pray through the whole situation", in this case, an approaching hurricane which is the most powerful in 10 years, a Category 5--
    This means, we as Christians, should pray continuously until the hurricane threat comes to an end, in this case--
    He said, the Bible is the Word of God, the Sword of the Spirit, that helps us to pray without ceasing. When we are being attacked spiritually, relentlessly by evil, we can respond through prayer-- our mouths, our eyes---being watchful, on our guard, not literally, but, spiritually--- paying attention, watching through the whole situation-- praying throughout the whole threat--perseverance-- pay attention to what is going on; pray specifically for what is going on--

    in this case, calling to mind the approaching intense Category V storm;
    He went on to say "pay attention to the war that is going on around us," by "keeping our eyes wide open,"
    (symbolically/spiritually)
    pray over and over, he said, persistently keep it before the LORD--

    This especially applies to the hurricane approaching--

    Prayer: "may we be aware of the situation in which we live, of the spiritual war raging around us, ...may we be persistent in our prayer life, for our own needs, and all the saints..."
    In the Name of Jesus Christ
    Acts 23? and Ephesians 6-- the whole armour of God
    We have opportunities every day in spiritual warfare;

    I wanted to add, that in this case, the threat is clear--
    A massive hurricane--
    To me, it confirms our mission in life as Christians, to "prepare the way of the LORD!"
    To be ready for every storm;
    This is everyone's mission.

    A hurricane (Joaquin) sank the huge cargo ship, the "El Faro," a few years ago, and over-confidence in an aging ship, and the capabilities of man-made things.
    There was a similar situation with the sinking of the Titanic in the North Atlantic-- an overconfidence in a man-made so-called, "unsinkable ship." Most people were asleep on that ship, on that fateful day. Many in the world, including Christians, as this pastor pointed out, are asleep.
    We are not unsinkable.
    We need Jesus to be saved.
    He is the only way to Heaven.
    The only "ship" of Life, or "Arc of the Covenant," (The Judaic Word of God) or like "Noah's Ark,"
    Are you on-board the ship of life?
    The only way on-board, as one Lutheran pastor said once a few years ago, is to have a "free-ticket."
    But, we must live in peace, on the ship, according to the rules established by the Captain.
    This is also a consensus in Christianity.

    A massive storm is heading for Florida destroying 95 percent in it's path;
    I believe it is symbolic of the world as a whole.

    Let's pray ceaselessly until it passes,
    and to be ready for every storm of life.
    And ensure we live in a way that is worthy of those on-board.

    I just remembered something that happened yesterday that was amazing, and I think it was related to the hurricane.
    I was driving to a Court hearing, regarding a long-standing difficult case.
    The sky was filled with amzing weather in the morning with the light on the clouds in ways I've never seen.
    I looked to the east and the sun was rising. But, to the west, the sun was reflecting in ways that appeared as though the rays of light were coming from the western horizon, as if reflected in some way, upward, like sun was rising there.
    Then, at one point, overhead, the clouds appeared briefly as an eye of a hurricane--
    It was truly amazing--
    Then, I prevailed in the brief estate hearing, and was validated, and vindicated-- dramatically!
    Even without an attorney.
    But, I hope to have one in December.
    I believe these are signs to keep praying, as the pastor said earlier tonight, quoting the Apostle Paul's writings in the Bible,
    to pray continually through the approaching hurricane--
    as I'm doing here all night, until I fall asleep...

    Anyone else notice how right after the eclipse, which was supposedly a sign of judgement for the US, it was almost immediately followed by historically powerful hurricanes Harvey and Irma.. and Harvey hit the west, while Irma is hitting the east?

    Yo, found some info. Checked it, too. It's legit.

    "For all Floridians

    The governor just stated if you can’t get out of any mandatory evacuation, whether for fuel or any reason at all, call 1-800-955-5504. He said they will do anything in their power to help get anyone in a mandatory evacuation area out. Even if you are elderly, disabled, have pets, have no money, any reason at all they will get you and your loved ones out.
    Feel free to share with any an all that may need this info"

    As a footnote to the OP, it is now reported the Jennifer Lawrence has called Hurricane Irma a punishment on the people of the USA for electing Donald Trump. Leaving aside the fact that the hurricane has struck more countries than just the USA, her views cannot be supported by reference to The Bible.

    One of the many advantages of being a Christian is that I don't have to believe tosh about God punishing us. We no longer live in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah.
